I hear people say bare knuckle is no more dangerous, or perhaps, even safer than regular boxing or MMA because there isn't the more sustained punishment over more rounds with padded gloves and that the seeming more barbarous nature of it is merely superficial because cuts happen easier. In my mind, this event calls all of that into question. It may be presumptuous to say so. It may be too early, but just saying, for the sport to be as young as it is and already have a death, it doesn't look good. How many deaths has there been as a direct result of a fight in the UFC since its inception?
