Daaaaamn! Ya got me.lol ;) I know Tyler just beat Kevin Asplund, maybe that's why I confused them.

Don't fret! Tyler has a fight coming up now too. He's replacing Ryan Martinez/Joe Cason against Brandon Griffin (3-0) at PFC Rock N Rumble on November 21st.

Damn, I thought Griffin had the speed advantage over Martinez and Cason, but East will be faster. Tyler is probably one of the fastest heavyweights out there. If Griffin can close the gap and get Tyler to the ground or in a clinch and goes crazy like he normally does, he has a shot, but unless you have big power or you outsmart Tyler, he will run circles around you.

3-1 james the beast Wilson vs dan Charles October 18th

I'll go with Wilson based off a faint hope for realizing his potential. He should be finishing fights like crazy, but it hasn't worked out that well for him lately.

oh shit Rama can't get into the US. Sam caplan on the mmainsiders podcast said that they tried to sign him long term but he can't get into the US

Damn, that may explain a few things. I wonder if it's something that can be resolved or if it's a situation like Ryan Ford where it will never happen?

I like that both the East boys are fighting pretty often. I hope Tyler is staying out of trouble, the guy has so much potential.

I figured Cannonier would be in line for a shot soon. US heavyweights who are UFC quality are getting rare, and they are the easiest to sign and throw into fights quickly. Cannonier will have a speed advantage over Jordan, so we'll see how that works out.

You should probably offer your insight on Cannonier in my Jordan vs. Cannonier thread in the heavies. Many won't know who he is.

Good for him. There wasn't many fights left for him in Alaska fc anyway.

Done. He's a fun prospect, not much footage on him though. There were a couple more videos I was sent that got me a feel for him, but they were just him doing moves from the matrix and flooring guys. He does have some defense issues though, but his speed gets him out of tough situations. Hopefully he will grow in the UFC and can use his natural abilities to get past Jordan.

Chris Barnett was interviewed by Bloody Elbow on what it's like to be a Super Heavyweight in MMA. He reveals that he is currently at 295 and that his upcoming fight with Darrill Schoonover will be his last at SHW before moving down to HW. I recommend reading the article.

"I guess I'll go ahead and let the cat out of the bag. I'm on my way down already. We've been putting in the work and I'm already at 295 and it feels great. I'm taking the steps that I need to take. I'm learning how to put the candy bars down and I'm going for a run instead. I have fought at 265, and I know it's the best weight for me. It's one of those things where you have to be brutally honest with yourself.

yeah the weight drop was needed not only to be in a big promotion but for his health really. Wouldn't mind him destroying rama. Bellator is a good place for him if he can make the weight. I think he had a deal with them at one point or at least in talks but he stayed super heavy

He said he wants in a promotion with a TV deal (Bellator/Titan) and then wants in the UFC. After the Schoonover fight, I can see him facing the winner of Walt Harris vs. Dave Herman in Titan for their HW belt as a test to see if he can make the weight and how good he does before going to the UFC. Though if Harris beat Herman, that would be a rematch.

That would be a good fight actually. Titan seems to have the most investment in a HW division right now.

I'd rather him fight a veteran than Rama. Herman or Harris aren't coming back to the UFC anytime soon. Rama is a top prospect.
