Anyone know how old Hideki Sekine is? Very solid Japanese HW grappler. However i cant find out his age anywhere, got a feeling he's in the 33-38 sorta age category.

He can't become pro fighter cause Japanese Law prohibit public employee from working second job.

I remember seeing a grappling tournament bracket that had him listed as 37. Although I can't seem to find it now.

He fought in September, from what I remember that guy is going to hit 40 very soon. Plus I think he's a bit on the short side for HW, but he actually would've been a good opponent for Ken Hasegawa.

He fought for free.
Don't think he could be serious contender under that circumstances.

Results from Volkov and Goltsov:

Volkov defeats Roy Boughton by TKO in round 1. Goltsov defeats Zoumana Cisse by armbar in round 1. Can we get Goltsov to a big promotion yet?

Damn, that sucks about Cisse. I guess it was too much too soon, I was hoping it would be a pretty competitive contest.

Volkov vs Boughton

Boughton shouldn't fight at HW anymore if his record means anything to him. He's tough to finish, so that's a great result for Volkov.

Goltsov is looking great, Cisse should also avoid any more HW fights.

Boughton should definitely stay away from HW. Cisse has had some success there before, but he should stay at 205. Anyone have any idea of a height for Cisse? I know Goltsov is a big dude, but he dwarfed him in there. I was thinking maybe 5'10/5'11, his age would be cool too, i've had trouble finding both.

Is Dave Huckaba vs C.J Leveque the first super heavyweight in a major orginization, or am I mistaken?

Tom Aspinall went pro and won his first pro fight in only 20 seconds today.

I have Aspinall pegged as the future of the British HW scene. He's a combination of the British HW striker that has been the norm for the past decade and the newer breed of BJJ specialists like Phil Defries. He combines the best of both worlds at a high level unlike any other heavyweight from the UK has before him.

Big news. It seems like Ion Cutelaba has officially dropped to LHW in his last fight.

In heavyweight amateur action, former freestyle wrestling Olympic alternate and Team Quest member Scott Steele defeats Sergio Marroquin by round 2 submission for the California amateur heavyweight title.

I've been going over younger fighters in the division the past week, and while there's a few lately that have fallen short to less than stellar competition, there are still some that are adding wins to their resume.

These fighters I didn't add to my main post as they are extremely raw, have a laundry list of flaws, and aren't particularly standout athletes, but have age on their side for improvements.

I'll list the three I think show the most promise to use their age to their advantage.

Bellator signs 1-0 pro, 5-0 amateur college wrestling standout Zach Rosol to its heavyweight division. Rosol is an extremely powerful wrestler with good ground and pound. A very forward thinking signing by Bellator as Rosol will be a strong athletic prospect to develop over the next couple years.

Bellator seems to be doing a much better job than the UFC at signing young prospects early. I'm scratching my head to think of the last time the UFC landed a decent Heavyweight prospect.

Konstantin Erokhin. Not so long ago.
