Unsigned Heavyweights - Thread Two

Ishii is going to get a rude awakening if that happens. Cro Cop is plagued by injuries and isn't capable of performing like he used to. Sergei isn't and can perform to his potential, and even if he comes in heavy he is leagues better than anyone Ishii has ever beat.

I personally think Ishii will stay far away from guys like Sergei, Grabowski, Tybura, and Smoldarev. He'll probably fight Guram or Ricco and Kharitonov will probably fight Wiuff or Monson.

There's a lot of good fights from them in M-1 that's for sure but I really wish Sergei would go to bellator. I don't think he's tied down with a crazy m-1 contract. He should be in a big league promotion. In a perfect world Sergei in Bellator and Ishii in OneFC both very possible too.

If Sergei gassed as bad as he did in his last two I could see eeking out a decision, despite his own cardio being pretty bad. I would like a fight with Ricco though. As for Sergei; it would be nice to see him avenge that loss to Monson, but him or Wiuff would get beaten into a living death.

Ishii says his goal is still UFC. Don't know how serious he is.

Just a few updates from the EFC card that's currently in progress.

Knife Didier-Kilola def Sors Grobbelaar rd 1 sub(leg injury)
Mike-Vermeulen def Ivan Strydom rd 1 tko (knee injury)

Elvis Moyo v.s Wilhelm Strauss is coming up soon.

Moyo defeats Strauss by rd3 TKO in a rather lackluster fight, could have finished whenever he wanted but was extremely hesitant for some reason.

Josh Copeland signs with the UFC!

I will update the profiles list once Fernando Rodrigues' fight is over on Saturday just in case I need to readjust should he lose.

Awesome news!

Also, Manuel Quezada lost the other day at TPF. Guess you were right Paul.

Doesn't seem to be as serious about MMA as Butler is.

Boxers can be iffy in MMA I've found. Lots of them can't give up boxing and their clinch and ground games suffer, unless they have amateur wresting or kickboxing credentials they usually don't do well without many many years of ground training. Butler's ground game is still average at best and he's been training it for 4 years or so now. It's tough for some of these guys to pick up on when all they focused on before was striking.

I'm more of a wrestling bandwagon guy for MMA, wrestlers pick up on the ground game quickly, and often their striking being bad is more forgivable since all they need to do is survive long enough to get the takedown.

That's the thing about Quezada though, he did have kickboxing background as well, and a pretty good one. As you said earlier, he may have gotten into MMA a bit too late to add ground skills to his repertoire like Butler did.

I also think he's not extra motivated, and is probably just looked for paychecks.

Fernando Rodrigues loses by armbar to 12-11 former middleweight Allison Vicente.

I had a feeling that would happen.

That's a damn shame, so was that the last interesting Brazilian prospect.

All the HW prospects are shitting the bed. I'ma be pissed if Cleckler is upset

Also, William Baldutti (5-2) is defending his Jungle Fight HW title today against Fabio Bondesan (1-0). That could be one to watch.

Not really impressed with Baldutti to be honest, that fight is a gimme for him as well, I'd expect him to take it easily. Baldutti is in his mid 30's as well I believe (35-36).

What also would be cool is if you kept track in the second post the guys you had been watching that actually got picked up by a big organization. But yeah I loved your first one of these, good job.

Good idea for the next version, right now I'm hitting the 10,000 character limit on both posts, so I'd need to make a third one after the two to fit that in. Just for fun though I compiled a list:

UFC

Josh Copeland - UFC
Ruan Potts - UFC
Viktor Pešta - UFC
Jack May - UFC
Anthony Hamilton - UFC
Ruslan Magomedov - UFC
Daniel Omielańczuk - UFC
Derrick Lewis - UFC
Jared Rosholt - UFC
Walt Harris - UFC (released after losses)
Nikita Krylov - UFC

Bellator

Dmitriy Sosnovskiy - Bellator
Alexei Kudin - Bellator (released after loss)
Raphael Butler - Bellator
Vitaly Minakov - Bellator
Alexander Volkov - Bellator
Kevin Asplund - Bellator (released after losses)

WSoF

I only count Bellator and the UFC in the main post, but I'll list WSoF here for comparison sake.

Steve Mocco - WSoF
Scott Barrett - WSoF
Smealinho Rama - WSoF
Jake Heun - WSoF

Thank you, that is pretty awesome. You were watching more people that went on then I expected. Good eye for talent.

Every time there is heavyweight fights with decent records, that aren't in a big organization, I always check your thread for them haha.

I dont think it's true. This is the only promotion I know of that consistently puts on shw contests. If they add the division, they're going to deplete the heavyweight division. Even if there isn't that many large heavyweights at the moment, there could be one day. Any able bodied person should be able to cut to 265. If you can't, you're probably a body builder like pudzianowski.

Or someone like Bigfoot Silva, Hong Man Choi or Andre the Giant, Big Show, Big John Stud....
