Unsigned Heavyweights - Thread Three

Evgeniy Erokhin is set to face Jani Istvan, I'm smelling an upset.

Entirely possible, Istvan is on a roll lately. That's some really good matchmaking, and I can't wait to see how it unfolds.

The next month will see a few older fighters on small streaks competing. Some matches I'm interested in are:

Richard Odoms vs Yusuke Kawaguchi
Ashley Gooch vs Josh Diekmann
Carl Seumanutafa vs Javy Ayala
Daniel James vs Arnold Adams

Michał Andryszak vs. Björn Schmiedeberg & Salimgerey Rasulov vs. Zelimkhan Umiev at ACB 29: Poland.

After taking out pretty much all of Florida's HW prospects, Alex Nicholson got signed by the UFC and is dropping to LHW to fight Misha Cirkunov. Tough fight for him, can't see him winning that.

Rasulov vs Umiev is an insane fight. I'm really excited to see how it plays out.

Misha will likely destroy him grappling. Nicholson does have that one punch KO power though.

Fight 7: Heavyweight – Andrzej Kulik (Poland) vs Masoud Ranjabar (Iran)

This heavyweight bout was a highly anticipated bout because Iranian fighter Ranjabar who represents AKA Thailand with a 1-0 record was a UFC heavyweight prospect. He performed exceptionally well in his last fight at FMD 7 in Bangkok, and was set to impress the crowd again. Polish fighter Kulik has a 0-3 record. He showed up to this event in good spirits in spite of the unfortunate circumstance of losing his luggage at the Bangkok airport. Unfazed, he was hell-bent on defeating Ranjabar and showed up to the cage sportingly to finish what he had come to do.

Kulik started the fight with a few feeble punches and a missed roundhouse kick and that was when Ranjabar saw the opportunity for a takedown, not once, but twice, followed by some powerful punches and elbows against Kulik’s face till the referee stopped the fight. Ranjabar was an impressive body of power in this fight and used his strength to full advantage.

Winner: Masoud Ranjabar via TKO in round 1 at 2mim 5 sec

Gooch takes the first win out of the group. I'm not sure what his potential is at nearly 41 years old, but I'd like to see him in the WSoF tournament or in Bellator.

Yeah Gooch is on a nice roll but his age and a 9-4 record means his ship has already sailed. He'd have to get to say, 12-4 to be considered by a big promotion by which point he'll be nearly 42. Bellator might give him a few prelim fights, though.

Not a bad signing.
But I prefer younger HWs like Pavlovich or Goltsov.

Good, more new blood at HW in the UFC....seems a bit specific though, why guarantee an unheralded new signing a spot on UFC 200?!

It looks like Tony Mustard and John Demmel have been getting some wins under their belts in the UK. However, does anyone know how old they are? They both look far north of 30.

Yeah I do too but I like that they're at least picking up guys at HW lately. They signed that 6-0 Janho (I don't remember so random shot) guy and Damien Grabowski lately too. Grabowski old but I think he's talented enough to be a top 15 type of guys and honestly I don't know the other guy at all. I just want them to keep signing HWs because the pool is recycled and beat up.

Guys, do you consider Curtis Blaydes to be a real deal? Guy is only 4-0, but looks impressive IMO
