Unsigned Heavyweights - Thread Three

He's an amazing grappler, but he's really old (38-40) and can't get paid for MMA fights due to his job for the Japanese government. He's not allowed to have another job or income sources, so his pro MMA fights are fought for free.

thanks for the info bro

I was hoping to see Sekine's name on the list of ADCC competitors his year, but doesnt look like it. Would love to see him grapple Orlando Sanchez.

On a separate note, Dmitry Sosnovskiy was supposed to fight last weekend. Does anyoneknow if this happened, and if so if he won?

No update on Sosnovisky's fight, but I'll just throw out the casual routine captain obvious statement: when the hell is Bellator going to give the kid a damn fight?

No idea what Bellator are doing with him.

I noticed that Steve Mowry (6-0) is going to be fighting for the Gladiators of the Cage Amateur Heavyweight title on June 6th against Chris Araujo (5-2). Mowry's size and background makes him a very interesting Heavyweight prospect.

Yeah Mowry is a really good amateur, really sneaky submission game and he keeps good range on the feet. He could end up like a more tactical version of Stefan Struve once his game evolves, and his technical boxing is probably already better.

Tanner Boser is returning on June 12th. Hopefully he returns to the win column.

How many amateur fights are normal in the states? Could this be Mowry's last one with a win?

Already been said but, Brandon griffin vs Ashley gooch RFA 26 and Dale Sopi vs Jan Jorgenson RFA 27

Results: Karol Bedorf defeats Peter Graham by decision
Mariusz Pudzainowski defeates rolles gracie by KO in like 10 seconds.

if they don't make that title fight, Pudz VS Hukaba would be perfect for both. But Also Jeff monson since he won't quit or Dj Linderman

Ultra excited about those RFA matches.

With how unimpressive Bedorf has been and the level of opponent he's been fighting, Pudz might actually stand a chance at beating him. I'd say do that fight next for sure.

Also on the KSW card, prospect Jedrzej Mackowiak won by TKO in the first round. I've added him to my honorables list, he's young, improves every fight, and he's a natural heavyweight.

For aspiring pros, generally 5-10 fights or less. Some areas require a certain number of amateur fights before fighters go pro. He's within the range, but he could probably do a couple more amateur fights after this one if he thinks he isn't quite ready yet.

Hopefully at 205lbs. IIRC, he said he was staying at HW til it was proven he shouldn't be there, and his last fight proved that.

Great RFA fights and know what, Pudz/Monson would be really good.

I was hoping he would drop down as well, but sadly it's at HW against Jared Henderson.

In other news, Jarjis Danho moved to 6-0-0(1) with a first round destruction of Stefan Traunmuller. The UFC should definitely try and snatch him up. He's not getting any younger.

I'd like to see him get one more fight in, and I thought of a perfect opponent, Dmitry Poberezhets. A few big organizations are looking at Dmitry right now due to his win streak over... less than experienced fighters. If Danho can beat him then eyes move to him.

What is the story with the NC (Timekeeping Error) on his record?

A round or two went longer than it was suppose to, and during that time his opponent landed significant fight changing strikes. I believe that was the reason anyways. It was originally a split decision win for David Shvelidze over Danho, but with the longer rounds where Shvelidze did last minute damage, they declared it an NC.

Mowrys fight

Good win for Mowry. He needs to work on his finishing ability and aggression though. He has so many facets he can win the fight with, but he's not at the level yet where he can finish with all of them.
