Unsigned Heavyweights - Thread Three

I know he's had a couple of quick losses recently, but i still think Michal Andryszak is a pretty solid prospect. Good size for a HW, athletic and still young. I do worry about his defence/chin/heart though.

Jeremy Hardy has looked very good in what i've seen of him. Still very raw, but he's another HW that has a decent striking/wrestling combination, and looks very athletic for a heavyweight too.

And i like what i've seen so far of Jani Istvan - if he keeps getting better then he could have a bright future. Be good to see him start fighting better opposition though.

Evgeniy Erokhin is a tricky one - record wise he probably has the best resume with wins over Rogers, Kyle, Sokoudjou, V.Overeem etc, but he should be fighting at 205.

So my top 3 would be Andryszak, Hardy & Istvan. With Erokhin 4th due to his lack of size for HW.

I wanted some opinions on fighters I haven't profiled yet. I have a list of 10 HW's I'll post that aren't mentioned in my post, and I want to see who you all think has the best future in the heavyweight division. Here's my list of "not quite made it" fighters:

Dmitry Poberezhets
Jeremy Hardy
Michal Andryszak
Evgeny Erokhin
Dale Sopi
Jani Istvan
Andrew van Zyl
Chris Lokteff
Jeff Hughes
Ruben Wolf

Lokteff vs McSweeney was a great fight, it could have been either way IMO
I hope he gets a decent fight in One to build up the guy again, he's only 28

Didn't Lokteff get KO'd in under 2 minutes? Are you thinking of Lockteff-Johnson?

a lot of them i haven't heard of. Ruben is probably a journeyman guy just like Mulheron who he just beat. They'll both end in a big promotion eventually but probably won't do much. Chris Lokteff is very interesting, certainly the best fighter to come out of Australia in a while, i imagine a rematch with Mcsweeny would go much differently. He just got caught. He probably has one of the brightest futures out of the bunch. Dale Sopi right now is just a ko machine with not so good wrestling but he's young and has plenty of time to improve with a really great camp with solid wrestlers and strikers. He likely has the highest ceiling out of all of them. Michal is probably right where he needs to be. good measuring stick for HW prospects. Evengy is the really peculiar one, like everyone thinks, he should be at 205. He'd have a really solid career there. He's having a solid one at HW but if he faces really tough big HW's he should lose handily. But he's beaten some good names. i don't think he'll ever drop down. Unless he REALLY wants to be in the ufc and they give him some ultimatum.

Sopi should have better wrestling as he's been with Bader and those guys for a couple of years, hopefully it gets better... Hughes should be a 205, as he's fought a bit there, at heavy he's got a bunch of belly fat. He did not look great in his last fight (it's online), he won because his opponent couldn't continue because of exhaustion, wouldn't get up for the third round, without that he was losing the fight. He's fought tough competition as an ammy though, that experience could carry him farther than where I think he should be based on his skill...

Still not sure if it was at HW or LHW, but Ion Cutelaba beat late replacement Vitali Onishchenko (2-1) via 1st round submisssion (omoplata).

Tim Hague defeats Tanner Boser by quick round 1 KO
Thats 4 massive KO's in a row for Tim. Why is he not signed at least as a gatekeeper in WSOF or Bellator? I think he is so underrated now that he is in shape and has his life together. WAR Hague!

yeah i was curious as to his contract situation with WSOF....i know they have a weak HW division but still strange they haven't found anything for him. wouldn't mind if bellator snagged him.

This weekend is amazing for heavyweight fights. I'm going to be going insane with footage after all this.

Ante Delija beats Gluhov by decision. Appears to have finally found his footing.

Also do we have any weigh in results for IGF? or are they just not going to bother?

PS Glory tourney may 8th lineup

Semifinal: Everett Sims vs. Cody East

Semifinal: Xavier Vigney vs. TBA

He completely outwrestled him, it looked like he could take him down anytime he wants. Gluhov had few shots in the whole fight and the rest was surprisingly dominated by Delija. The only bad thing for Delija is that his punches on the ground were not looking strong enough to finish guy like Gluhov.

This is what I was hoping Delija would adapt to, I always said if he added more wrestling into his game he'd be tough to beat. A fight with Grabowski would be fun, I think Delija has the tools to beat him if he doesn't let Grabowski take him down.
