Unpopular OPINION: Cowboy will outclass AL

It's going to be like Iaquinta vs Masvidal again, a fight which was daylight robbery and Masvidal clearly outclassing Iaquinta. Iaquinta doesn't do very well against strikers who are smart and don't rush at him.

Rooting for cowboy.
Keep breaking those records.

I hope Al beats him since I think he has more to offer the top of the division than cowboy.

Would love to see Khabib, Gaethje, Pettis 2, Ferguson vs Cerrone but he would get eaten up and that would suck to watch.

Al is ranked in the top 5 so he automatically wins.

Cerrone is a mental midget who can't beat top ranked fighters for whatever reason.

I bet if you took Bryan Barberena and randomly ranked him in the top 5, he'd beat Cowboy somehow.

We can fire up a highlight reel of Cowboy getting smashed on the feet when he's up against elite competition. Generally Cowboy looks good when he's in there with somebody who doesn't really belong in the top 10.

Raging Al is a veteran and he's pretty solid everywhere. His fight IQ looked through the roof in his most recent appearance with Lee, which is why many people are riding high on him right now. He looks like a fighter that is using his head and putting the pieces together.

I'd never discount Cerrone and he's one of the most entertaining guys in the sport. I could see him landing something and the guy is a finisher who takes risks.

Out classing Al, that much I can't see. Al would need to get drunk before he walked in the Octagon. He may lose some fights against the best but he's not getting out classed.

Raging AL got torn up vs an elite striker in Khabib

Oh and he got outclassed also in all areas

So Al? He was #13 a year ago, and all that's changed is he beat someone he'd already beaten.

It's not that Al's fight IQ looked good it's that Lee's looked so bad willingly attempting to stand with him when after 2 fights his only success came while on the ground. The first fight Lee legitimately was forced to stand with Al by virtue of being unable to take him down, the second was him not going for it.

Al's IQ looked decent against Khabib when he realized mid-fight if he played deer-in-the-headlights Khabib would just jab him in the face rather than take him down though.

He's the only one to go the distance over five rounds because Khabib only had 2 of those fights, but I think RDA had more significant strikes in just 3 rounds.

Conor had near the same amount or more strikes than Al did in the entire fight in two different rounds.

Wouldn't be a shocker if cowboy win but I slightly favor al in this one.

Its almost like beating currently ranked opponents, moves you up the rankings... what a breakthrough idea!

Girl you stick with that. The rest of us will disagree with you.

Al's IQ looked decent against Khabib when he realized mid-fight if he played deer-in-the-headlights Khabib would just jab him in the face rather than take him down though.

His IQ looked decent against Khabib because he was able to look better on literally zero notice than everyone else who had months to prepare for a wrestling specialist.

McGregor landed more in round 3 then AL did in the whole fight if I recalled correctly

True, but Khabib also got the finish vs Conor and I thought it's debatable if it's tougher to go through an uneventful full work day than to pull up your sleeves and go home early.

Conor had near the same amount or more strikes than Al did in the entire fight in two different rounds.

See above. Other than that, I fully agree with what you wrote in this thread.

From what his team has been saying Al has been looking really good in training, generally they're honest and don't bullshit about it so he should be a game opponent, I think he might come in there and shock the world with a KO the likes of Masvidal/Till or Pettis/Wonderboy (smaller guy sleeping the bigger guy unexpectedly).

You can break Cerrone, you can't break Al, it'll be a good fight and Cerrone-with-child has looked great, but Al is always pretty underrated and I just don't get it, he's a bit of a dick but he's a fucking good fighter.

With little over 2 weeks till Cowboy vs AL I would just like to say Cowboy is going to outclass him

He will use his reach, his height, his underated offensive wrestling aswell as hard leg kicks to negate ALs offence
It will be a master class

He likely submits AL or Knocks him out with a head kick

Cowboy will get ko'd

Masvidal is wildly better at boxing than Cowboy - for reference, watch them fight. Note the parts where Masvidal drops him like a sack of potatoes.

That was definitely a bad decision, the problem was Masvidal had a history of coasting, and he let a winnable fight get away from him because he sat back too much.

maybe, you never know which cowboy will show up.

but cowboy has always struggled with guys with decent hands.

honestly i'd argue that it was lee's LACK of fight IQ, he was taking iaquinta down pretty easily and took his back multiple times then decided he was a striker.

Two of my favourite fighters , don't like this , someone gotta lose. Sucks
Gonna be fireworks though
I'd say that it feels like Cerrone vs. [Alex] Oliveira, the kind of fight you hope to be awesome and hope to end in a draw.

Cowboy struggles with polished strikers who do their best work with their hands, not brawlers like Al

I'm favouring Cowboy
