Underrated/Unappreciated Movies

I like it a lot.

If I had one complaint it would be that the first segment with Gosling, Mendelssohn, Mendes, and Mahershala is A LOT more appealing to me than the subsequent two.

It’s still a good movie once Gosling is out of it but it’s just not as good. And when a movie starts so high and loses some steam, it’s noticeable. Second section with Cooper is well done but it struck me as just redundant of a bunch of dirty cops films we’ve seen before.
Final segment brings the story to a very fitting conclusion but it just struck me as irksome. DeHaan and Cohen are really good young actors but their characters annoyed me big time.

Gosling was great- as he often is- and his segment really had a tension and energy to it that I felt the rest of the film lacked. Plus Mendelssohn was stealing the show when he was in it as well.

YES!!!!

I've literally never met anyone who's seen this movie!

Love it! Haven't seen it since I was a kid but I bet it holds up
I didn't know about it until someone working at a video store (remember those) suggested it.

So legit. It's like a period piece/detective story/action film with Matrix/Crouching Tiger type influence. What's not to like. Ultra badass movie with a cool plot.

Lumet made so many good ones. Legendary filmmaker. But this is easily one of my favorites. I think Serpico is largely touted as the better film and is certainly the better-known film, but I like the similarly themed Prince of the City substantially more. Really well-written, well-crafted, and with great performances. It is long but very compelling.
Legit never heard of prince of the city
Need to check that out one of my fwvorite subgenres

The Heavenly Kid
Southern Comfort
Days of Thunder

Depends on what you like but there's so many IMO
