It will always be They Live

That film will never be appreciated enough as the indictment of society and living in a perishable consumerist surveillance state that we absolutely do. No matter how many reference to it in pop culture and imitations the may exist; you simply can’t do it enough justice in my opinion.
Likely why its not underrated.

Underrated for me is almost a toss up between Christine and Prince.

Christine is SUCH a stupid story, but its taken seriously,.good acting, and i fucking love that soundtrack.

Prince of Darkness...I fucking love it and I think its his scariest. The Thing is quite scary, but since its tied with 2 other movies of me favorite movie ranking, ive seen it the most.

Prince to this day disturbs me. Outlandish story about green fluid being held in this ancient church thats pure evil, but what bothers me the most, is that i wanted MORE. This movie being ambiguous always leaves me unsatisfied.

Hmm, never thought of that; her being the destroyer. Guess im biased after watching Constantine. Nobody accidentally gets into heaven OR he'll, so I always thought her soul would be saved via resurrection at least. Him dreaming of her at the end is actually only his dreaming and not....damn, whatever cult they speak about....

I really wished we got some more out of this movie.
Those voices in the dream have been saying the whole time that they are trying to alter the events you are seeing, and hinting the shadowy figure is the devil that is leaving the church and this is the worst case scenario but they always wake up before the shadowy figure leaving the church is revealed.

Then it's revealed to be her , grim faced and terrible. So he has this intent to go there and get her back, before that can happen.

But it may happen wether he goes there or not.

Pretty sick

It's between Prince of Darkness and Assault on Precinct 13. I think the latter is lesser known but considered a cult classic while the former is more well known and has had more tv air time but had lesser reviews so it's difficult to say.

In the Mouth of Madness is pretty well known and liked. The Fog is considered a classic and has been for years. Christine is one of his best known films and considered a classic. Starman was pretty well known back in the day and got an Oscar nomination for Bridges, though not as many people know about it these days.

Prince of Darkness. I bet most people reading this poll haven’t seen it.
Saw it recently and found it run of the mill, not as cool and fun as his other efforts. Starman is a masterpiece imo and underrated greatly. A beautiful movie from a horror master of all people.

Its seen as a cult classic, hardly underrated.

Hot take, but I always loved Escape from LA. It's not Lawrence of Arabia and I get that it sucks, but I don't know why it gets so much hate when it should have the 'so bad it's good' energy

Probably because Carpenter ramped the camp to eleven.

Escape From NY was campy, but the atmosphere was pretty serious.

Don't get me wrong I enjoyed EFLA for probably the same reasons you did, but I loved EFNY. I never hated the sequel.

I think the hate comes from the fact that it's the sequel to an adored cult classic. As such is impossible not to compare it to its much superior predecessor, and since it doesn't measure up it gets a lot of scorn. On its own and judged on its own merits it's fine, and if EfNY didn't exist a lot more people would love it more.

I never even heard of Prince of darkness till a few years ago, but I never seen evil dead and not a big horror fan

I seen assault on precinct 13 after the remake came out and actually enjoyed both movies which is a somewhat unpopular opinion

Vampires should be in his top 5 and is one of best vampire movies

PoD for me. I love the themes it explores and just them conversing about the implications of what they found.

Seriously though, that's a hard pick. Stuck between Christine, Prince of Darkness, and In the Mouth of Madness.
