Was hoping for more of a Yadong Song or Yan level guy. Going from 50-45ing #2 to 60 seconds away from being champ then down to #8 is a big step down, but at least it's a top 10.
As was mentioned, it seems like UFC is using Umar as a hitman here on Mario. But really, Mario deserves this opportunity too being on an 8 fight win streak.

are they gonna put up an Apex sigh outside a high school gymnasium?

Im planning on going to my 1st UFC event, had to be Bautista as main event lol FML. Wish it was Umar vs Yan or O'malley.

Hopefully pantoja and they fight each other.

This is great matchmaking tho I don't like him but its hard to deniegh Bautista his number 1 contender fight, but also a great chance for Umar to show he's rebuilt himself.
Funny than Umar and especially Yan have to watch a guy they both dominated get a shot now because he won a fight over a non contender
Yan "dominated" Corey? No. Umar I guess you could say did in terms of round by round but both fights were competitive. The Yan fight especially (Umar a bit less but still competitive).

I'm a Sandhagen homer big time so I'll readily admit my bias. And I do think he lost both fights so I'm not irrational. But honestly, I think stylistically he's the best matchup for Merab. He has great cardio so won't wilt. He can strike. He can grapple. Can say the same about Yan to a degree but he definitely slowed vs Merab whereas Corey won't.

question is who gets a TS if Umar and Yan both win? Yan is more deserving winning 3 in a row but hard to excited after that 50-45 domination my Merab.

I would go with Yan. One, Umar had his shot more recently and lost. Two, Yan has the better streak with 3 solid wins in a row while Umar only has one. Three, Yan vs Merab wasn't a title fight and several years ago, now they can meet in a title fight, that changes the perspective.

Atleast you admit this is sandhagen homering. Sandhagen convincingly lost 4/5 after Yan gave up a r1 feeling out process, he took worst of every meaningful exchange and was dropped and nearly finished at one point and was called a masterful performance at the time. Cory didn't embarrass himself or anything but that's not scorecards of especially competitive fight.

Don't think he was almost finished but yeah he clearly lost. I think he's improved more than Yan by far though. A rematch would look a lot different imo. Again, my bias maybe playing a role.

Very much surprised that this isn't on the Abu-Dhabi ppv, but I do like that its 5-rounds

squash match lol

It really is. Bautista has absolutely nothing for Umar. Outside MAYBE cardio (and that's not a declaration, just that it's POSSIBLE) there's not one area of MMA where Bautista is even close to as good.
