Maybe my memory is off on tecia i had her down as a grinder/wrestler

she's a point-fighting striker, first and foremost. she has almost zero power. but she can take girls down and lay on them if they're poor on the ground.

Tecia Torres is a good fighter though. Nina is not. Shes a glorified brawler whos balance is so shit that multiple times she fell back into the cage trying to throw weird girl kicks. Lets remember Kish is complete shit too. That was low level WMMA at its finest.

I still slightly favor her to beat JJL, but its going to be close and def not worth a 5u play

Tecia has very good standup, especially relative to 115 womens division. Amazing speed, great range management and awareness, very solid technique. Tecia would own Nina too.

Her standup is not technical man. Kish stood right in front of her with ZERO defense and Nina really didn't do much outside of straight punches and really sloppy kicks that immediately made her lose balance. Caught or not thats horrible IQ to throw such shit kicks, any good fighter would've countered them all day

I think Nina wins more off aggressiveness than anything. As long as she gets past jjl shit jab and put punches together on the inside she should be able to do that enough to win. JJL is shit too, this is for sure

i take issue w/one thing here, joe -- you call nina a "bad fighter" and "glorified brawler" -- but then say tecia is a good striker ... "relative to the 115 division"

you kinda can't have it both ways. nina is not a "bad fighter" at 115. i know you said you leaned her way, anyway, but she should've had the W against kish, she's not terrible.

in other words, you can't say one of them is good "relative to the division" and not use the same criteria (relativity) with the other

Idk, i'm not sold on Nina at all. Tecia is clearly a top flight fighter in her division and one of the better strikers for sure. Nina, Kish, JJL. Not sure where people rank these chicks but I think these girls are bottom of the barrel, borderline not UFC worthy fighters, even for that division. Match making means a lot, but if Nina wins here I can't think of another girl coming off a win they could match her against that she can beat

To her credit she is aggressive, has heart, comes from the best camp. So I could be proven wrong

What is WEAK about his skills? All we've really seen worth judging is his kickboxing which is not even close to bad.

Sherman is a 27 yr old HW. Not sure why you're writing him off. Can't fully grasp his potential yet, but he definitely has some.

I'm leaning him too, but I think I took a note on the May fight that he got outstruck pretty badly until May threw a kick and somehow TKO'd himself.

56 second fight though lol hard to take away too much from it, especially when you have 15 mins of him vs Ledet as a much better educational tool on what Sherman can do

“Coach (John) Crouch told the whole team to stay ready because people do get injured,” said the MMA Lab fighter. “What helped me out is I helped Benson (Henderson) for his camp for (Michael) Chandler and I helped ‘Hot Sauce’ (Scott Holtzman) for his fight against Josh (Emmett), so I was ready and when I did get the call, my weight was good and I was like, ‘Let’s do it.’”

"He hurt his back while winning the NEF lightweight belt with a first-round TKO of Jesse Erickson in April, then defeated Tom Marcellino on a WSOF card in June at the Foxwoods Resort Casino in Connecticut before his brief but physical encounter with Lemke in Bangor — where he also suffered a torn lateral collateral ligament."

Since then Powell’s largely been in recovery mode.

“In all three of those fights I couldn’t even come close to touching my toes because my of lower back and my hip,” he said, “but I’m finally feeling like my body’s getting into proper order and I’m getting a bit of my health back.”

How is Christensen's TDD?

He does a good enough job imo, there are some grappling and ji jitsu vids of him in the past, lots of under hooks, sprawls, guillotines and pretty much all he can do to keep the fight standing.

Bojan does oddly use his weight well, quite a stocky short guy likes to use trips in clinches while pushing his weight onto opponents till they topple over, does have gnp also.

I am not playing this fight but think christensen is the right play especially if he survives bojan r1.

jesus, Powell cannot finish a triangle to save his life. Serious question, how does a guy like this get into the UFC?

I was about to watch tape of the fighters i dont know and fuck this video shocked me!!!holy mother of god what a bum. this is some white belt level shit. should have raised the hips and pull down the head. this triangle was fucking deep. non existen takedown defense. seriously judging him from what iv seen I doubt if he would beat cm punk. brain camozzi would 30-24 this dude. Seriously iv never seen someone so bad on tape before their first ufc fight. Powell will probably get his shit kicked in by klose and then they feed him to sage since he is a lightweight and sage desperately needs an easy fight.

Is there any tape of Sherman showing TDD?
Na nothing to really give you an idea of how he'd do if Walt tries to clinch or catch kicks or shoot. This is why I posted about how i'm more concerned with the potential things Walt can do than what I know hes capable of in this fight from tape watching the two.

Ok i said im only playing nina but ive been waiting for fodder for christiansen and found it. Enter klose. Two or three unit play incoming i think.

random fact: just took a look at Sherman's record what a freaking Can Crusher :D combined record of the 8 fighters he has beat is 16-51 not a single win over a guy who is close to have a winning record (not counting the May fight)

Okay so I watched tape on both Sherman and Harris....both guys are just meh.

Sherman looked pretty good in r1 v. Ledet but after that he gassed pretty hard and just ate jabs non-stop. There is no question that Sherman has a chin but you can't win fights by getting punched in the face. For those interested take the time to watch Ledet/Sherman its fucking hilarious the manner in which Sherman eats those shots. I put a couple units on Sherman but not confident at all.

Keep in mind Ledet fight was at altitude. Maybe i'll be wrong, but if that was the pace of the Ledet fight i'm expecting Sherman to have the cardio advantage and look more like he did in round 1 than he did in round 2 or 3

As much as I like Rivera's game, and I did defend him earlier on his decision to not take a fight, I lost a bit of respect for him during this whole situation.

Can't take back my thoughts on what I feel is a fault in his character right here.

Or maybe I'm just salty that I had planned on using him as a parlay piece but definitely questionable to his reasoning and I don't think he ever directly addressed Dodson's call out of him? What's the deal with that.

He did the Sherdog Q&A thing the other day and someone asked him about Dodson:

"i train for bryan, when dodson offered i thought that was cool but wouldnt help me in anyway to get a title shot."

He should've kept it short and straight to the point in his reasons why he didn't wanna fight Vera then. All that extra daughter / bully shit or whatever was unnecessary. And he shouldn't have accepted it in the first place if he felt that strongly about his morals.

---

Anyways ! Anticipating these props and if they are reasonable I'm going to gun for another thousand dollar parlay hopefully I get some nice odds.
