UFC will have trouble in the Asian markets.

Don't know about Asia in General, but having lived in China for a number of years, I can promise you they'll never make a dent over there, for a number of reasons. By China I mean mainland China, not Macao or any of those places.

(1) TV and sports are all state-controlled. That means you've got to appease the government censors and pay a shitload of under-the-table money just to even get a discussion of any kind going with the relevant parties. If Dana had trouble with the Japanese and the Russians, he'd shit bricks trying to deal with the Chinese.

(2) Even if Dana could get somewhere with the authorities (which he can't) the Chinese would still refuse to allow the UFC due to face issues. By that, I mean there aren't any mainland Chinese fighters that are good enough to make a splash in the UFC. They'd get wrestle-fucked to death.

The Chinese will only open up if there is a Chinese athlete that can be a marquee name to attract local Chinese audiences. They won't want to see their guys getting the living shit kicked out of them, which is exactly what would happen.

I've been to some of the local shows here, Sanda tournaments and such, and they're outrageous. They bring in Japanese hairdressers or something like that, and introduce them as a Japanese champion of some sort, and then have their hometown guy go in and kick the shit out of him.

Same deal with western fighters. I've even heard from some foreigners who fought in their shows that the commission looks the other way as the Chinese fighters wet the tape as their hands are being wrapped, so that those guys come out with cinder-blocks in their gloves. I know at least one foreigner who suffered a serious head injury as a result.

Anyway, it's just these kinds of shenanigans that will prevent the UFC from making it in mainland China. In the end, if MMA ever does take off in China, the Chinese will just make their own shanzi style league, and ban the UFC. No YouTube in China, but you've got youku. No Facebook but you've got Sina Weibo. No MSN but you've got QQ. No Google but you've got Baidu. Sure, it's all complete and utter bullshit, and no real comparison, but it doesn't have to be when virtually every business in the country is state-run.

One FC is mostly ignored in Sherdog after their event's quality dropped to just
another local promotion level. They seem to get their shit together again in
the next event, but the level is still no where near its peak.

You see, the difference between me and you is that I actually follow mma in
South East Asia and can name all their poster boys while all you know is Eddie Ng.

Mitch Chilson (got stopped by random Thai twice, the first time they managed
to turn it to no decision, not the second time though), Eddie Ng (Evolve MMA guy
that they are bringing up nicely), Radeem Rahman (A Singaporean who is being
built up by beating random Malaysian), Leandro Issa (their BJJ god who got
fast tracked to title shot against 7-4 guy whom he already beat only to get
blasted away), Zorobabel Moreira (heavily hyped by Evolve and One FC then
got derailed hard by Boku)

You want some more?

Well I do know more than just Eddie and if the evolve guys are losing then I'm not complaining.

How is this a quality drop, I think its a great card.

Edit sorry didn't read part where you said "They seem to get their shit together again in
the next event" my bad.

EDDIE NG has not been fast tracked has one 4 fight straight in one fc and still has to face another fight this week which isn't a title fight.

However I didn't about know that stuff with Koji Oishi, that is bullshit and should support who ever the champ is.

Oh look, this guys is from England and he can't read. I have just said that
Eddie Ng is the only guy being built up nicely. How can you be fast tracked
to the title shot when your "fellow" camp member is the champ?
Some guys really just start the thread about South East Asian MMA scene
even though they didn't do any research first.

And I was talking about Soo Chul Kim not Koji Oishi, good lord.

OK seriously man, I just posted that they finally got their shit together, but
it's still no where near its peak. If you have really followed One FC's events,
(just go to see its wiki's events) you will see that their recent events'
quality is no where near its peak in Aoki vs Boku.

Are you seriously from England?

Anythings possible I suppose, but I have a hard time seeing anyone in business standing in the way of the UFCs global juggernaut. I can see local issues like crime, corruption and social unrest being a problem. I can also see big things like the economy, and geopolitics limiting or preventing expansion. But not some second tier MMA promotion having a little head start in a particular region.

Are you living in Singapore? You seem to assume that you are the only one
who watches the event.

Oh wait, I also watch and actually paid for their shxtty stream, and I remember
empty seats pretty clearly.

One FC makes false claims about expanding to 20 shows per year, they did not
promote their Korean champion (who beat their poster boy) and act like he was
just a filler for their next poster. Even pulling him out of Road FC events.
Non-evolve mma athletes who actually deal with them have posted here
that other local promotions are much better, since they actually take care of them.

They are ridiculously biased towards Evolve MMA and would try to fast track
their guys to title shot which ends up hilariously since they all got beaten down
by no name fighters.

And many things more...

Where exactly did you mention Eddie here?

P.S. OneFC is atrocious shit. I used to watch it religiously on my pirated satellite when I was living in Shanghai. It came on a Filipino sports station, along with TUF and the WWE. Jesus those were dark times.

You must not like anything Asian, huh? Why so much belligerence? You got a minority stake in the UFC?

Tell us how you really feel?

why just because i call bullshit on the PR crap from One FC....are they the only Asian ORG?

OMG they have pride rules.....how dare i mock them.

Good lord. :icon_conf

What if UFC greased the right palms in Asia?

Since when was Caros Fodor the #1 ranked Strikeforce LW? Was that like after most of the Strikeforce LW's went to UFC?

Koji Oishi beat Honorio Banario correct, that's the guy you were referring to when you said poster boy.

Ok, listen my friend. So basically you haven't followed One FC at all and just
making this thread for no apparent reason.

i am refering to Soo Chul Kim vs Leandro Issa, Issa beats Kim once before
he is given a gimme title shot against 7-4 guy whom he already beat.
(you see 7-4, whom he already beat here that is the clue i have given
you that this is Kim not veteran like Koji Oishi. If you want to use fight finder,
at least use it correctly please.

So what was the point of saying Evolve guys are getting fast tracked in the first place when the only who has is Shinya Aoki but then hey its Shinya Aoki.

lol.... oh and you forgot to end this post with "good lord" because it definitely needed it.

OMG, i am getting trolled right? I am talking about Leandro Issa vs Soo Chul Kim,
and Zoro vs Boku when Zoro was getting a title shot after knocking out
Roger Huerta who was 1-5 in Welterweight division.

I have dealt with so many posters who have no idea about what they
are talking about lately, it is so irritating.

I call out One FC for their bullshit, but at least i watch their shows. TS seems to be like a fish out of water on his knowledge of MMA.
