UFC vs WWE drug testing

Pretty certain it was introduced prior to that, in 2006, after the death of Eddie Guerrero.

The policy doesn't just cover steroid and recreational drug use, but encompasses injury management, cardiovascular testing and health, and concussion testing and protocols, too.
 
Drug testing is thankfully standard now, although it is strict there are ways to remove one of the three strikes. They simply do not want another Benoit tragedy on their hands. That SEVERELY INJURED professional wrestling. Even if at the very least you do not like pro wrestling it is similar to professional stunt men, do we call their actions fake? Of course not. It started out as a misunderstanding that people actually believed in the results they were seeing, even though pro wrestling has evolved since then and admitted it was pre-rehearsed and predetermined or they would have been subject to regulatory authority from the various states sport commissions.

It's story telling, there is not as large a difference between MMA (now) and WWE (now) both run on storylines (MMA to a lesser extent) but BOTH manufacture phony content, either pre written or on the fly MMA conflicts that obviously arrive organically as opposed to written beforehand. The fact that most people still have NOT figured out that fans do not actually believe they are watching an athletic sporting contest and the fact people continue to degrade pro wrestling as a whole believing that the fans do indeed buy into what they are watching shows a staggering lack of realism on the part of those pointing out "fake wrestling" in fact the position has reversed.

We now find those people that point out wrestling is fake to the exclusion of all other talking points simply to make someone feel bad because they watch it. To me it looks like the "non-wrestling fan" have bought into the broken 4th wall, looked around inside and decided everything was real according to them when in fact wrestling is at the stage where there are OBVIOUS winks and nods (those same winks and nods that non-believing non-fans have completely missed) to it being simply a piece of fiction designed to be show on TV and fill people's time and WWE's wallets. The same EXACT fallacy you accuse others of. The irony is pathetic.

It is like EVERYONE that points and says "WWE is fake bullshit lulz" act like John-Fucking-Stossel breaking the news to everyone. Let me clue you in, this ain't the 80's. Porn Star stache's are no longer popular and EVERYONE and their fucking dog knows it is predetermined and prewritten. NEWSFLASH. There is NO fuckin' newsflash.

Here is a tidbit of MMA's "manufactured" drama. Not complaining much, but it is funny since MMA is not covered by main stream news outlets IN newspapers (usually - not sure about Canada) just where in the hell Jake had time to go all Rocky during his training, ripping up pictures of GSP because he is angry at some imagined slight on GSP's part, running up to the top of small hills in Compton screaming "GEORGES!!!!" but the walking down the hall giving GSP the "Fuck you Georges!" look and GSP walking by smoothly looking back at Jake with a simple "Who the fuck is THIS guy?" expression. :cool:

They can't feed spoon feed the dudes with super sauce backstage and risk another Benoit. They'll loose the pg 13 demographic.

lol that is pretty ridiculous. You can juice safely I guess as long as a physician is closely monitoring them and they aren't juicing like a maniac.

For Randy it was more about drug and alcohol abuse then it was about roids. He's also clean and sober now from what I gather.

No the wellness policy was reintroduced after the Eddie gurrero Death due to a heart attack from heart enlargement from steriod and drug abuse.
 
It's an in house testing program so not monitored or enforced by a 3rd party. So obviously it's more window dressing than anything.

That being said, their policy for paying rehab costs for all present and past talents is second to none.

Steroids are obviously a problem but pain killer addiction is beyond abundant in that industry.

Benoit had severe brain damage and essentially had Alzheimer's. He had the brain of a 70 year old. On top of that he was an alcoholic. He was about to be divorced. Was juicing heavily. His best friend Guerrero had recently died. And he had nagging injuries including a neck that required surgery I believe. Also, his career was on a downward spiral. That guy had a lot of fucking problems.
