UFC releases Yushin Okami

Are you fucking kidding me right now?

This is absolutely worse than cutting Fitch. Unlike Fitch Okami actually fought and beat more ranked opponents than Fitch can ever dream of. On top of that he never bitched about how much he was getting paid or had any feud with that tubby bald fuck.

I'm pretty sure they have roughly the same amount. Both were top fighters in their respective divisions. They're equally bad cuts from the perspective of trying to maintain the highest quality of fighters in the UFC.

Wow...that just doesn't make sense. Definitely one of the worst cuts they've made.

That's way too much for a top-10 UFC fighter.

Let's get one more big fight out of him at our ridiculousy high ticket prices then cut his ass.

He'll be good enough for a UFC Co-main event one day then we'lll cut him the next.

not sure why you decided to reply like this to the post you quoted. as my post was just a reply to the guy saying he makes 85-125K to show.

my post had nothing to say in regards to this thread. my other posts have yet you didn't quote them for some reason??? oh wait, because i agree that the cut is ridiculous.

Okami is a MW Fitch, he can't beat the top guys anymore, gatekeeper at best.

WHAT THE FUCK?

literally the worst cut i've ever seen.

and i despise Okami.

lol this is kind of the point. you never heard the guy talk so why you despise him?

im a bit surprised they cut him so close to wins over lombard and belcher. if boetch didnt pull off the 3rd round miracle okami would have been 4-1 since losing a title fight

that said its a business. okami has been very boring recently. he also has the fitch effect in that he derails contenders and even when he loses he makes his opponents look bad. the sport makes money off of entertainment value and okami crushes opponents marketability while putting fans to sleep

Glad they finally got rid of him. Mediocre and overrated. Total choke artist.

Fuck it I'll bite you douchebag.

So a fighter that has been in the top ten is all the sudden mediocre and overrated? The guy has racked up some nice wins on his resume and only lost to some of the best in the division aside from Boetsch who he was beating the living fuck out of untill he got stopped.

What in the actual fuck.

I don't really like watching dude's fight, no question, but what the fuck.

Atrocious cut, it's not like he was making really serious money either. Atrocious may be even too weak of a word here...

What in the fuck? He loses to Jacare and that means he deserves to get cut? Wow.

It's probably one of those things where it's like "Yushin Okami has run his course. Time to move on."

For those who are shocked, this is the same scenario in which Jon Fitch got cut. UFC does not like boring fighters who've been part of the company for a long time. They cut them as soon as they get steamrolled by a non-champion. Tibau is still with the UFC because he hasn't gotten streamrolled yet, when that happens, he will also be cut

apparently they cut him because "our roster is packed"...

The good news is that it now makes enough sense to cut Clay guida.

I think he was seen as more dangerous and boring than anything else. Kind of like Jon Fitch. Only Okami was brought in specifically to fight Anderson.

I don't agree with the cut, but that is the only reason I see. He beat Lombard, who was very marketable. He beat Belcher, who might have been marketable, and both performances weren't barn burners by any stretch of the imagination.

If you think about his last three fights, he was brought in to lose. Belcher had beaten Paul Harris and was getting serious hype, he was suppose to beat Okami in a sort of revenge/redemption match. Not to mention, a win over Okami would have put him on a five fight winning streak.

Lombard lost a controversial split decision to Tim Boetsch. Then he beat Paul Harris, and Yushin was on a two fight winning streak. If he had won it wouldn't have been hard for the UFC to promote him into a title shot.

It could be argued that all of Yushin's fights since his title fight up to Souza could have been for him to lose. The only questionable guys in that six fight span are Boetsch and Roberts. Roberts was a late replacement, though I don't think he was brought in to lose against his initial opponent in Luiz Cane.

Boetsch had a small amount of hype, going into the fight. So you can't really tell if Yushin was supposed to lose. It seems like it, a lot was talked about how strong Boetsch was. So the brass might have thought Boetsch could be a name off Okami, who they really had nothing to do with at that point.

I could be wrong, but this is the only justification I can give.

The Fitch cut was a bigger deal, no question about it.

Please do fucking explain how Fitch cut was a bigger deal.

I'm pretty sure they have roughly the same amount. Both were top fighters in their respective divisions. They're equally bad cuts from the perspective of trying to maintain the highest quality of fighters in the UFC.

Pretty sure Okami has more ranked wins. Both were bad cuts, that I agree.

Akiyama is 0-4 in his last 4 fights and yet he stays whilst Yushin has to go fight for Bellator or WSOF now. It's almost like the UFC couldn't care less about being seen as a legitimate sports league or something.
