Nah with a win over #4 Imavov deserves another top guy. Strickland vs Imavov 2 makes all the sense in the world.

Allen can have Costa, Hermansson or Vettori imo.

Lots of interesting calls given how active the ranked MW fighters are the moment. It seems like we both made unpopular choices of placing Strickland in rematch vortexes lol

No strickland needs to fight someone coming off a win for a title contender match.

Strickland either gets next title shot or the winner of Whit/Khamzat at worst.

Imavov just got outclassed by Strickland last year, to make matters worse it was Strickland who took the fight unprepared late notice and still marched him down.

No way.

Imamov was on his way to winning and Cannonier faded. The only way this would be an immediate rematch was the other way around.

It was a bad stoppage but no one that needs to tie up both fighter for months.
Yeah. Jared basically was buying his time by wall and stall. It was coming either way. Bad stoppage, but jared had very little chance to win even before he got rocked, let alone after.

Allen is on a seven fight win streak. Imavov just lost to Strickland who is likely next behind Adesanya unless Khamzat beats Whittaker.

Lol you gotta be a hardcore Strickland fan to have that view. Whittaker/Chimaev winner is getting a title shot, not a fight with Sean Strickland.

Yeah Strickland stepped in on short notice vs Imavov but don't forget the Cannonier fight was literally less than a month prior, so it's not like Strickland was totally out of fighting shape and coming off multiple months of inactivity etc.

Again, Strickland is one of the highest profile fighters in the UFC right now. Imavov is obscure with a very boring style of fighting, not to mention he already got easily beat up by Strickland who took the fight late notice with no camp… Imavov literally ran away for 5 rounds it was embarrassing.

What makes him deserve Strickland who easily has claim to the next title shot?

- "Highest profile fighter" sure he's popular but the UFC doesn't love the idea of him as their champion. They'd much rather he float around the top of the division the rest of his career but not as the champion. Don't forget all the negative headlines he creates for them that are a pain in the ass to deal with lol. As such is makes sense to have him take a slightly longer route back to a title fight, at least not that they are in a rush to throw him back in there with one win.

- "Obscure" lol, I'm not Imavov's biggest fan but he just won in a main event, he'll be in the top 5 and he's French. That's enough not to be called obscure.

- "Easily has the claim to the next title shot" You meant after the DDP vs Adesanya winner faces the Whittaker / Chimaev winner right? Because that's a long time to wait. Even if Whittaker/Chimaev looks like Rose/Carla 2 they'll be ahead of Strickland in the title shot queue.

Strickland's last fight had the fans booing for half of it and he himself described it as "boring". That's not exactly enough for a former champion who never even successfully defended his title to sit on his hands for 6 months+ waiting for the next shot.

Sean said he was waiting on his title shot. I mean, he could still accept a fight but who knows? Imavov vs Allen doesn't sound terrible but I think I'd rather see Imavov vs Rob whether he wins or loses his next fight.

Rob probably isn't going to get a title shot if he beats Khamzat. Khamzat is hyped but he's only ranked #10. Plus DDP finished Rob not long ago. Izzy also has 2 wins over Rob.

No guarantees of course but Dana did say Whittaker/Chimaev is a #1 contender's fight. Yeah he said that about Usman/Chimaev but people forget that Chimaev was offered the title shot vs Strickland at UFC 297 but had to turn it down due to his injured hand or whatever other injuries he was dealing with.

Wow that's interesting. I did expect Khamzat to get a title shot with a win but not Rob. Hmm damn Sean is going to be pissed lol
