Media UFC Muted 6 - Khabib vs McGregor (no commentary)

This is where Rogan loses me...
He's a jiu-jitsu black belt and yet his breakdowns of jiu-jitsu techniques are absolutely terrible.
He's got enthusiasm for days and I know that's very important, but he was hired to be the color commentary guy (at least once upon a time) and when he talks about grappling, it's like he's never grappled a day in his life.
<{MingNope}><{MingNope}><{MingNope}>
When I watch the fights with guys from my gym, we just look at each other like
<{Joewithit}>
That's the point.

If Rogan were to break down jiu jitsu in a technical, higher level way, as you might see in elite, competition level events,

how many people do you think are going to understand what's being said?

It's dumbed down purposefully for the general audience who doesn't know a thing about jiu jitsu.

We're talking about an audience that used to boo any time the fight went to the ground.

So, how do you make jiu jitsu sound exciting to the average viewer?

It's not about the most technical and accurate break down, you aren't the target audience.

People have all these ideas about what a good cast looks like but don't seem to grasp the entertainment aspect of the sport.

They have the analytics, they know their target audience and cater to it. That's all it really comes down to. More educated fans might complain, but that simply comes down to a lack of business iq.

Dana changed the rules as he sees fit. Whatever happened with Smith yrs ago aint got shit to do with today. Stop living in the past, old man.
Dana is like a mini Vince McMahon, all he cares about is making money for the business. Some rules are sacred one day and non-existent the next.

If he could have pulled a Montreal Screwjob on Francis before he left, he would have 100% done it.

I guess you're not much up to date on things. He's in big trouble rn and has some terrible affiliations.
The Conrad tears still exist and have high degree of salt content. Just because you have reasons to crawl from your rocks now dont mean your not still mutants, to be mocked and laughed at and have rotten fruit thrown at you.

You sound like you're not well. This isn't a teams based post.

Team Khabib check-in

Shit is all good here have a beer

Take care brush ya hair

Imagine landing the most powerful possible punch you have, landing it clean, landing it as hard as any punch youve landed in the UFC and it BARELY drops the guy to a knee.

Sadly this fight changed Khabib

My grievance is not about his breakdowns not being high-level, it's about them being straight up WRONG.
Which, to me, is definitely not what you want when most people watching are casuals..
Calling anaconda chokes guillotines and stuff like that. He's constantly saying things that are flatly incorrect.
Sure, no one is perfect, we all make mistakes... But, like I said, he explains grappling sequences as if he's never grappled before.. To me, that's problematic.

But yes, his enthusiasm and trademark "OOOOOHHHH!!!" are definitely fun and pretty iconic at this point.

He reminds me of Tony Romo. When Romo first started doing broadcasts with Jim Nantz, he was soooo good and his breakdowns were incredible. Now, he just phones it in. He's excitable and that's IT...

It’s funny the way these Conrats seem to think Khabib owing money is some sort of win for Conor. Khabib could go to prison for the rest of his life and it will never change the beating Khabib put on him that night.

Love this. Especially with modern UFC commentary(used to at least be decent). McGregor really got his ass handed to him. Big $$$ or not when you got a massive ego (like most high level athletes) this type of domination is just brutal.

Could you provide some examples?

I'm sorry, I don't have any specific ones off the top of my head (so I probably shouldn't have said anything), but if I remember any or if I hear some new ones, I'll try to remember to let you know.
