It's been degrading it's product for at least the last 10 years or so.
 
Jon still sells PPVs and signed an 8-fight contract before the Gane fight. Taking the risk of Jones getting washed by Aspinall right now is a far greater risk of degrading their product. It's better for fans to speculate that Tom is better than Jon than to know for sure. UFC fuckery is accepted and expected at this point. Believing someone is the best combat athlete of all time after watching him get his ass beat is not.

His best win is a decision over Ngannou, in the rematch he was ktfo’d to the shadow realm. His title defences besides Ngannou were all against old HW’s past their prime. His career needs a fucking asterisk, and you need to rethink your shitty post. It’s funny when people are wrong and confident.

They prioritize jones because even though hes a lunatic drug addict, cheater hes the best theyve ever had or dana wants you to believe. so in for a penny, out for a pound.

this is what happens when you dillute your brand and dont let champions win organically. look at divisions when legit guys win like islam cormier etc. or divisons when guys like jiri win, get hurt and vacate.

jones looked awesome during his reign of handpicked middlewieght former champions. Dont get me wrong. There is a reason this mfer sat four years while francis and dc were heavyweights. Came out of the woodwork when literally the only guy for him to fight was he standup zero ground game close to champ.

ufc will aLways be about whos cool, marketable and can win some fights we can put in the limelight. i mean shiit suga sean entire career is based off snoopdawg humming and hawwing him up with buttchin midget guy. that went viral and literally made omally, just like conors 5 men died making his pocket watch line. Same shit. we bit, Dana put them on the gas.
 
It's always the same shit with the UFC and it's HW champs.
It's almost like they purposefully prevent them from becoming superstar

There is no gas on any of those guys. To even mention Jiri in the same breath as Jones or even Jiri to conor is blasphemy. Jiri would be fodder when jones was in his prime and ruling that division. Rua and the rest in that division were on another level. The LHW's now are not close to the caliber of fighters and grapplers from the old LHW division when jones ruled it. It was one of the toughest divisions to rule.

Also, it was DC who came down to LHW to profess that he was the Jon Jones killer and starch him for Dana, and so on. DC;s HW reign had nothing to do with Jones. DC came down specifically to LHW to take jones belt, and mentioned he was the hitman for Dana.. DC wanted the smoke, came down to bad mouth the lower division champion and got it.

It is a lot of revisionist history and bullsit. In terms of Gane, It is one thing if Gane was a shit fighter but he is not, and no one at HW, including Ngannou has made Gane look like he did not belong in that octagon. What Gane witnessed is how slick, clever, and dangerous Jones submission grappling actually is. It was a learning lesson from an old elite.

How is Jones vs stipe holding up the LHW division? If pereira decides to not fight the LHW contenders before he fights a HW fight, that would be pereira holding up the division, not Jon Jones

That's BS. Dana White has been disrespecting Stipe for years. If Jon didn't personally request him as the ONLY person he would fight, Dana would've been done with him a long time ago. Imagine if the Jones situation never happened and you asked Dana if he would consider Stipe for a title shot, he would laugh in your face and call you fucking stupid.

You don't defend the interim title, this is a fact. Either you fight the undisputed champ after winning the interim belt, or the champ relinquishes the undisputed title if he can't fight the interim champion. There's no such thing as defending an interim title, what Tom did was.the exception to the rule.

Not true. Arlovski, Nogueira, and Barao (twice) all defended interim titles. Arlovski and Barao’s situations are exactly what interim titles should be for. In both cases, the champion was out for an extended period of time, so an “acting” champion was crowned to keep the division moving.

I think that makes sense and I like that idea. But that’s not how interim titles are really treated now. They’re essentially glorified #1 contender fights that are supposed to guarantee title shot next, as you said. And in the Jones/Aspinall instance, it’s bullshit the interim champ is not getting first crack upon return of Jones. I absolutely agree.

He is a legend and has the record for title defenses in the HW division but I agree he shouldn't be fighting for the belt in 2024 and coming off a loss.
