UFC is degrading its product for Jones Stipe

What they are doing is catering to Jon Jones wants. Which was fine when this was initially booked. It would've occurred and been over with a long time ago. They signed contracts and I'm not sure the language in the contract when the fight gets moved. They might contractually/finically liable on some part to put that fight on if both parties still want it.

Tom and fans seems to be making enough noise now that Jon just might take that fight after Stipe. But he is going to want his money. Same shit with the Francis fight/deal.....the UFC simply wasn't willing to offer the amount both fighters wanted to make the fight happen.

Stipe may be the most overrated champion of all time.

He is a product of right time, right place.
Yep, dude almost got finished by post USADA Overreem, he did showed god tier chin vs Francis but he got touched up a lot and looked like a truck ran over him, people forget that because we usually remember fights in summary, got finished by a 38 year old obese wrestler, was getting out boxed by 5'8 DC in the rematch before realizing that maybe punching the fat guy in the gut might work and then went to war with 40 year old DC with a bad back.

And somehow he is the "HW GOAT" over primer Fedor.

The fact that he gets unlimited rematches and title shots is complete BS. He already got his rematch with DC and yet he's being gifted another fucking title shot after coming off a dominating KO loss 3 years ago. He should be fighting guys like Sergei, Blaydes, and Gane to earn another shot.

I don’t disagree that the matching is a farce making messes of divisions. But I will say interim titles should be defended, they are supposed to be acting champion in cases of extended absences. But they’re kind of treated as just glorified #1 contender belts now.

But Jones is p4p #1 and Stipe is the HW GOAT in Dana make believe world!

When has this not been the case before?
When Bisping was allowed to duck Romero into the sunset and instead fought GSP later on so that guy can have his 3 titles with no intention of defending?
Khabib beating Dos Anjos but needs to go an a legendary rant to get his title shot?
Aldo never getting his rematch so Conor can have his fantasy he probably still jerks over while coked out?

List probably can go on forever. This was always the problem with fighting sports, it will to some extent always be a popularity contest. UFC just happens to be in America which makes this probably a lot worse, because there is much more money to be made in their eyes.

Ankalaev and Aspinall just aren't draws to the casual viewer, even though they probably should.
They are trying to milk this shit as much as possible. If Aspinall goes viral tomorrow with something and I mean VIRAL not MMA viral he gets a title shot and rimjob by Dana.

past a certain level of degradation, they ain't worryin about the product no more.

whatevah makes money.

Would you refuse a million to get out of retirement to get beat upon for 5 minutes? Nobody would be mentioning Stipe if it weren’t for Jon explicitly asking for this freebie. Low risk, high reward, title defence as a bonus.
All in all Dana thinks Jon/Stipe will be bigger than Jon/Tom by pushing the LHW GOAT vs HW GOAT narrative & Stipe is playing a role in this mess by wanting this fight. In Dana's eyes he's doing Jon & Stipe a favor by putting together this fight essentially.

I don’t care whose fault it is, who’s getting paid what, or who’s retiring. I’m just pissed off that I’m getting robbed of an obvious epic fight in Jones vs Aspinall.

I agree man. Jon vs Tom is the fight to make right now.

It will be bigger, sales-wise, without doubt. But it is a meaningless fight. I don’t mind legacy fights at all, but Jon should have already be stripped by now. Let the man fight whomever he wants, just let go of the belt.

Jones moves the needle for casuals far more than Aspinall, despite anyone with a brain knowing he's the best Heavyweight the UFC has. Casuals are the majority of the UFC's paying customers, not us. We're a small, very vocal minority of the overall fanbase, who doesn't pay for anything, and usually hates everything.

Dana isn't devaluing the UFC by pushing this fight and Jones, he's selling the fight to the casual fan who is going to eat it up, and likely doesn't delve into the sport on the level we do. It isn't as dramatic as the forum makes it out to be.

At the end of the day, Aspinall is going to rule over the division either way. Dana is praying that if he gives Jones this gimme/payday, he'll stick around and fight Aspinall. And if he doesn't, at least the PPV moved units, sold tickets, and gives them the claim to the 'best fighter ever'.

I agree. Jon vs Tom is much more important.

If Jones wins and they try to make the aspinall fight I can see him trying to duck out of it with the you're not paying me enough like when he was going to fight and ngonnou

Hard to blame these fighters when they do that. They are participating in what is one of the biggest fights the UFC can put on. Which in return means the UFC makes much more money than they normally would on a lesser fight and fighters want part of that piece. Jones vs Tom they should guarantee Jones a good 10M and Tom like 5M on top of their PPV bonuses.

as soon as asp jones becomes a possibility aspuanll will go from an up and coming decent fighter to the most dangerous and skilled heavyweight ever(except jones) I think if jones wins and doesnt retire he'll expect the same amount of money that the UFC has no chance of agreeign to (to get out of fighting tom)
