I think that Joe Silva is basically the only guy kept from a behind the scenes aspect of the company from the SEG days, I think that he's the only exec that wasn't hired by Dan or the Fertitta's. I believe his role expanded when Zuffa took over, I don't think he was the head matchmaker prior to that.

Joe Silva trumps Hughes' time with the company by...uh...years? Maybe that's why?

No disrespect to Hughes, who was a great champion and one of only 2 to ever beat GSP, but Joe Silva has definitely worked for the UFC longer than Hughes has.
