Rumored UFC 278 reportedly sold 360k PPV buys worldwide.

That’s a random fan made Twitter account with no credibility and just over 6,000 followers. I would say it’s shocking you guys buy into this but who am I kidding, Sherdoggers are gullible.
Get off your high horse man. The post directly refers to its' source, so read before you start posturing.

Edit: I sniffed around a bit and couldn't find anything to support what the Sportszion article claims, so you might be correct in doubting the numbers, even if the Twitter account part was false.

It says that "Sports Business Journal reports that UFC 278 only pulled 360k PPV buys", whereas there's no such reports to be found at SBJ.

They need to lower the price and do package deals with bars/restaurants instead of them having to buy it for every screen. They would get so much more sales that way which would equal more money even if it's less than the current price. Just look at the PPV buys, they keep decreasing with the price increase, and USA is currently in a recession even if people don't want to admit it.

360k×75=27 million

And then sponsorship money, overseas tv deals

Its still a ton of cash.

Usman isn't a superstar draw. Colby and Jorge are bigger names with more charisma than him. Pretty obvious they were the main reason their PPVs did well.

Also it seemed all leadup people had more interest in Rockhold Costa than the main event from Countdown views, presser views, viral moments, interviews etc.

Is that why Colby vs Masvidal did horrible numbers?

The Twitter part is not false. Click on the link to the original tweet and check the amount of followers. It’s barely over 6,000.

This isn’t the first time Sherdoggers use a bogus fan account as a source.

Also Sports Zion is some fan website. The link to their Facebook page has 178 followers and the link to their Twitter is broken. That’s all I need to know to know about their credibility.

That's a pretty decent pull for Usman, his challengerwasn't respected as a threat or popular, the card had no real comain, an aging Aldo, 2 fights of unranked bottom of the division,
Leading into ppv Romanov vs Tybura isn’t bad but they didn't light it up to create buzz leading in.

People pretend colby and Masvidal are huge draws putting Usman over, yet them fighting each other didn't sell, even with soo much "bad blood" and a way better undercard.

for a non conor ppv yeah not bad. ufc ppv buy average is just not great at the moment. hasn’t been for a few years now

I would say the UFC would be very disappointed with that.
Usman v Jorge = 1.3 million
Usman v Jorge 2 = 700k
Usman v Colby = 700K

The issue there I think was more Usman was expected to walkover Leon pretty easy. The rematch will generate way more interest. It did with Serra v GSP even though everyone still expected GSP to win.

UFC seems to be on the decline. That’s an extremely weak number for a summer UFC card.

And that’s not super great but not bad right?
Economy is taking a downturn as well, so expected PPV buys will drop, especially since ESPN and the UFC are jacking prices so high. We will see how the eventual Conor PPV and the Khamzat/Diaz ones do since those are the real needle pushers. If they don't hit at least 750K+, then that will be a real indicator

Not gonna look for it, but there was a guy saying that they didn't need to promo the fight...

That the main event sold itself

I like to shame idiots so that maybe they actively try and stop being idiots

I stream every ppv. Gas and food are too expensive. Sorry Daner white.

Boxing level numbers. Unless it’s Canelo.
