Rumored UFC 278 reportedly sold 360k PPV buys worldwide.

People cannot afford to spend the money these days. Especially on cards that they have no connection to. I bet most of the region pay map would be from the UK or fans of Edwards. I just dont see Usman having a huge fan base.

I split it with five people and we ordered pizza. $25 a person and we all brought beer. Worked out fine. I'm lucky to have friends who are into MMA.

Its good if you have those friends but if you dont you either go to a chickenjoint and spend $100 on wings and beers around a bunch of screaming idiots. Running around the place doing the Chuck Liddel every time there is a knock out. By the time the night is over every person in the place has been training UFC and could beat half the fighters on the card. I dont mind spending the money as the whole ohana is into MMA. I am really blessed my wife is as amazing as she is. I never have to go to a chicken joint and watch a card. I tink for the average fan at home watching by himself or a braddah $80 is a lot especially when u factor in food and drinks. Love that you have those braddahs around you into as you are. Though I imagine they come over to your place to get a peek inside those refrigerators you have over there, hahaha

Oh, trust me I know. I used to go to a local joint that would charge $10 a head and a two drink minimum back in the day. There were so many clowns running around or yelling, it was unbearable. The conversations you'd hear from table to table were just as bad and eye roll inducing. I've had a core group of friends I watch fights with for about a decade now with a few from before that. Some have moved away but I've luckily encountered many through other friends of mine who have no issues kicking in. Very rare these days it seems.

Eh not shocked that card was average the third fight should sell better since that KO was amazing just sucks that most ppvs aren’t stacked anymore

The post match presser on YouTube had over 1.5 million views within 12 hours. The amount of people that probably watch the PPV are 10Mil plus id guess its just so easy to get this shit for free now days.

They are the worst. I remember wen we went to NYC for PFL a while back and were out at a place with an old UFC card on. I was with Ray III his father and his other brother. Some idiots were wasted sitting next to us talking about how they could beat whoever was on the card at the time as they wrestled in high school or someting to that effect. Not know or recognizing the four of us at the table next to them had over 100 years of experience between us. What was even more funny is when they asked if we were from NY and we told them we were visiting they asked what part of Mexico we were from. =) Sounds like we are both blessed we have ohana or good friends to save us from having to visit those chicken joints to enjoy a card

That sounds miserable as an educated fight fan who actually cares about the fights. I can only imagine how terrible that was for you guys. Them asking what part of Mexico you guys were from just proves what kind of idiots you were dealing with, lol. We are lucky indeed.

That's a good number! Neither Usman, and to an even bigger extent Leon, have ever proven themselves to be major PPV draws previously, so this surprises me.

If the UK was still stuck in the antiquity of the PPV model, the number would have been a lot bigger still I'm sure.

How big of a factor do you guys think Rockhold/Costa played into this though?

As a guy that has never watched a card live in a bar as they mostly start airing at 1AM in Finland, the mental image you painted made me both laugh and shudder in terror.

Telling you that is a tame version of the events that go down in america's chicken joints. It gets a lot worse depending on where u find yourself geographically in America. Those southern states give me chicken skin just tinking about it.

That’s a random fan made Twitter account with no credibility and just over 6,000 followers. I would say it’s shocking you guys buy into this but who am I kidding, Sherdoggers are gullible.
