UFC 270: N'Gannou vs. Gane

While you may be right about the last part (Ngannou finding a kill shot) I fail to see how Gane is overrated, let alone highly overrated. He's yet to find himself in trouble against any of his UFC opponents, and outpointed the only other technical striker he fought in Volkov. At what point does he become accurately rated? After he wins the belt and sets a title defense record?
People are talking about him like he's the future of the heavyweight division but he hasn't yet proven himself. He was wins over Rozenstruik, JDS, Volkov and Lewis. He's got a good streak going but he hasn't had enough fights against top opponents. To be fair to Gane, the heavyweight division is lacking in UFC currently. And maybe he can prove me wrong but I think Ngannou destroys him. Gane has great technique but he lacks heavyweight power and very often at heavyweight power beats skill.

He has wins over all the top guys in the heavyweight division but he hasn’t proven himself? What exactly does he need to prove? That he can take a nuke from ngannou?

You yourself said it, the UFC isn't overflowing with HW talent, and Gane's gotten in there with the most relevant names outside of Stipe, Blaydes and Ngannou himself.

Chris Daukaus was overrated by people, including me, Gane is not.

Ya that's true. Well lets see how his next few fights go and we'll know whether he can live up to the hype. I think there's some dark horses in the heavyweight division that are on their way to being contenders, guys like Tom Aspinall and Alexander Romanov. Both of those would be interesting match-ups for Gane if they can keep their streaks going.

You can watch tape and see gane is a vastly more skilled striker than the entire hw division and more athletically gifted than most. he moves like a middleweight. He has very little weaknesses if any.
Yes there are still some question marks but he’s passed all the tests so far.

he fought rozenstruik who has comparable power and never got caught.

Rozenstruik should have been fired after that "performance"

I've gone back and rewatched some recent fights of both.
I'm even more confident that Gane wins now, but I'm not sure the method. I was originally thinking decision (and salivating at how good the odds were), but honestly I don't think Francis makes it to/out of the 3rd now.

A small sprinkle on Ngannou by stoppage in the 1st or 2nd might not hurt to have as an insurance policy.

Also, I've taken a look at the Ngannou vs Gane threads in the other Forum channels, and let me just say, I really appreciate how sensible everyone in here is haha.

Also, is there any way that Fig beat Moreno?
I kinda see this as the final nail in the coffin for Fig's title aspirations, and I think it should be a relatively straightforward win for Moreno once again.

Well the stats seem to support that idea. I've read somewhere that like 70% of the time in UFC history the person who won the second match in a trilogy went on to win the third.

Unless Moreno's chin suddenly gives out, I don't see how Figueiredo wins. Brandon was pulling ahead in the first fight before Deiveson fouled the shit out of him, and he clearly made the absolute best adjustments for the rematch - I think his speed and activity are just too much for Fig.

Maybe Figgy comes back with improved cardio and better wrestling, he's been with Cejudo and his team for a while now, I think they good in terms of gameplanning too. Previous Figgy was doing his own thing where he's king of the gym basically, the change could be great for him.

Personally I think Brandon is just in his groove at the moment and has a natural cardio that Figgy just isn't able to compete with, unless he's on the EPO now, which is possible.

It should be a case of Brandon having too high a pace, too much pressure, better grappling, more out put, fresher in the later rounds and so on, but Figgy has the power and physical gifts generally

Probably look into some props rather than play a side

Over 1.5 might not be bad. I think the ML for Moreno is pretty decent (EDIT: -170), so that works for me haha.

i think we get the exact same result. Figgy gasses and gets subbed

Yeah. It's one of the the problems with having the same match over and over again so recently. There isn't nearly enough time for factors like age, development, wear and tear etc. to become variables.
Moreno looks to clearly have Fig's gameplan down, and has proven over many rounds to be the superior overall fighter right now.

Personally I wouldn't bother betting Fig this early, wait until the weigh ins. Hopefully changing things up with his training camp now in Arizona has him coming into fight week much better prepared, if he doesn't have trouble on the scales like he did at 263 he's definitely worth a crack.
