UFC 270: N'Gannou vs. Gane

I’m really liking Gane here. Most of the reasons have already been stated. I like how patient he is, but he can sometimes throw out lazy kicks — usually front kicks to the body or low kicks — that leave him exposed. I expect him to be switched on against Frank though. He might play it extremely safe early and at times I expect it to be a bit ‘boring’, but he will probably open up more after the first couple of rounds.

I think his jab will be key tonight. Ngannou doesn’t really doesn’t throw jabs and has struggled with leading in the past. Granted, Ngannou did play with the jab a bit against Stipe and did actually get a knockdown with a running jab, but Gane uses his jab consistently, can work off it, and is capable of throwing it from either stance. Ngannou needs to keep throwing the low kicks as they’re a good leading tool for him and they do big damage. It will be interesting to see how Ciryl deals with them.

I see Gane’s patience being key. A lot of Ngannou’s knockouts are from counters. Ciryl isn’t going to rush in there to get countered and I think he can defend against Ngannou’s early blitzes should they come. When Gane steps into the pocket and misses his strike, he exits with his hands up and looks to reset. He has the ability to be extremely disciplined if he wants to be, and I don’t see Ngannou winning a slow paced fight against him, unless he can lull Gane into a mistake, which I don’t think will happen.

I’m so pumped for this fight.

The ME is a wild gamble imo. Gane can finish or dec. If Francis wins, it'll be by KO. Fight can go either way. We also gotta deal with the ME curse.

I wouldn’t be shocked if Gane finishes him, but Ngannou looks to be very durable and I think he’d be a very hard guy to submit on the ground even when tired due to how freakishly strong he is. If Gane hurts him, I think he’ll decide to remain patient instead of following up. I’d say his best chance of a finish is landing a head kick or landing a big counter and following up if Ngannou gets really sloppy.

Rumours are Ngannou has a bad knee, requires surgery

The comments here also state a training partner confirmed it but i havent watched that video. Take with a grain of salt i guess but there was a decent move on Ganes line so maybe someone knows something

Dudes full of shit most likely.

Runs a Twitter betting page, probably trying to buff the odds further for Francis by making the tweet go viral.

He still keeps tweeting about his picks that all have Francis in them.

Unless a journalist posts something, I ain't buying it.

And besides people have injuries going into fights all the time, and if they don't, they have them within a round or so of fighting lol.

Human or animal?

I'll probably just take some pokes at props here, Francis KO 1/2 and maybe some Gane 4/5/decision.

For all the skills Gane has, and he clearly does look to be the better technical striker, more composed, good gas over 5 and so on, the Francis smash is always live plus we don't really know what else Francis can bring.

He's bee training between all of these fights and then we sometimes see less than a minute of action. The Stipe fight obviously showed some improvements, more relaxed, more controlled, the wrestling has been worked, but again, it was less than 2 rounds of a fight.

Looking at face value I'd say Gane is the clear side, but the 'what if's' are legitimate questions.

What if Francis now has some sort of mid level wrestling game, a wel timed double or a clinch trip? His defensive wrestling has improved so I have to think his offensive wrestling has too. All of Gane's advantages are standing, controlling tye range, picking his shots, ect, the best answer to that is to take it to the mat.

Francis on top seems very scary.

Complete speculation, I'm just trying to think it terms of game planning options

Not saying I called it, but I called it
