UFC 220 PPV buys are out

UFC needs to learn that the boxing model for pay-per-views doesn't work for MMA. You can't put one or two good fights on a card and expect a lot of people to buy it.

Machida v. Anders would have been a nice fight on that card. So would a lot of other scraps from recent free events.

For casuals, the thrill of watching an UFC on PPV has gone, it has to be a real blockbuster to gain their attention

BUT for live attendance, just as an event, the UFC will keep on going and going. They mix it enough going from city to city that it is always a novelty when the UFC is in town for most. Vegas being the exception, but that has a high turnover audience so not an issue

Get out of the thread if you have nothing to add to it

I contributed to the thread by buying the PPV. 2 of your 3 posts in this thread were directed at me, not the thread.

You shouldn't quote me if you have nothing more to add to the thread.

Not surprising, my friends who are all casuals watched the Chael/Rampage Bellator fight for free that night instead.

Why do people care so much?
Great barometer on interest, which will tell you how many athletes will want to join the sport, how many big fights we’ll get in the future etc etc

If no one is watching the biggest cards of the year, that is far from insignificant

they have no interest in making more than 2 fights interesting for the average fan.

There is a reason why none of your posts got likes.

Ouch lol

Even after all the Ford Escort shit. Dana would pull his hair out if he had any

If it wasn’t for the Ngannou hype it would’ve done like 275-300k

UFC is lucky that they fooled people with the FIXED DATE PPV model for 2 decades plus.

Once again, if you put up 50 cards a year with 500+ fighters on the roster it becomes really hard to get fans behind a couple of fighters, and stars have always driven the UFC's PPV's.

Damn. PPVs are bombing for the UFC. 350,000 is probably an expected number for this card in 2018. Which is terrible.
And PPV prices are getting higher and higher. Fuck all that. Not buying any more PPVs.

Kind of weird in retrospect that Rashad Evans hit 1 million PPV buys twice as a main eventer.

Those poor bastards who bought this crap?

Why do people care so much?
Some people find the business aspect of sports interesting. Some people just tune in to watch fights.

Why do you care what people care about would be my question
