yea what @t6p said -- i think he was rusty.. BUT at the same time i think he'll look similar against MJ whenever it's standing..

Its weird cause when I look at Khabib's record I am like "wow". However, when I actually go back and watch him fight I am like "meh". Grappling isn't as sexy as spinning KO's but it is still effective I guess. I really agree with Rebel's thoughts about MJ just being fast and evading the clinch all together. IMO this is the only way forward for MJ as Khabib is tenacious when coming forward looking to clinch. I am super pumped for this fight I and I guess I will end up on MJ too...grudgingly.

EDIT: Also Khabib has had a some injuries (don't know what) so he may have been hesitant to strike because of that?

More excited for Khabib-Johnson than any other fight this year.

Then again I am a guy with Ben Askren as my avatar.

I hate askren but love his style. Such a shame he's not in the UFC.
Not a Khabib fan but love his style.

Thoughts on Carmouche?

Besides her face crank of Ronda and tkoing now 115lber Jessica Andrade she's been petty bad imo.
The thing she does have going for her is she always manages to take people down including meisha tate. I dont think her wrestling is all that but she's definitely a strong girl. She's also had a bit of a layoff.

I think Chook is gonna be on her bicycle again and circle for 3 rounds. Liz will come foward like a bull.
Idk how the judging is in New York. Last night was the first Pro event in New york and I didnt really hear anything negative about it.

I wouldn't lay the juice on Chook but I think she's better. Only bet I liked was Chook Decision at +155.

For me Liz's choke is one of those what ifs to me... what if it would have been a bit lower instead of over the mouth, would the whole Ronda thing ever happend?

Unless Connie has improved his tdd, I see Eddie finishing the job Mendes couldnt

I don't think Conor's TDD is as bad as people say. He apparently had an injury before UFC 189 that prevented him from training wrestling. I am sure he has worked on his wrestling since then too. Also, Mendes is a higher caliber wrestler than Alvarez.

Mendes is a better wrestler, but Eddie isn't that far off in terms of takedowns and he's naturally a bigger guy than Mendes.

That said, barring Conor gassing he's extremely durable. It's very hard for me to see Eddie stopping Conor anytime early in the fight. If Eddie wins, I have to believe it's going to be late in the fight or he wins a dec. Eddie winning inside 3 rounds would really shock me.

On the flipside, I think Conor can stop Eddie at any point. Eddie is durable too, but far more hittable and as I mentioned earlier if Conor can sting him and drop him Eddie doesn't have Nate's guard so Conor will have no fear of pouncing to land the follow up shots.

Conor rd 1 and esp rd 2 I like (rd 2 at the juicier odds and since Eddie has a really good chin). Conor itd too.

Eddie rd 4 and 5 have a bit of value along with Eddie dec too.

Just my opinion. I do think Conor stops him inside 2 rounds, but if he doesn't the fight gets very interesting imo.

Dear Diary

Week 1 without UFC. Shaking. Intensely bored. Slight urge to jump off a bridge. Questioning life.

Eddie may not be that far off from Chad in terms of their ability to secure takedowns, but the big difference is in their methods of getting those takedowns. Chad loves to shoot blast doubles, while the majority of Eddie's takedowns come from off the fence. Conor showed excellent TDD when Nate had him against the cage in their second fight. Will he be able to defend Eddie's attempts there is the big question.

Eddie >>> Nate in the clinch imo.
Lower center of gravity, physically stronger, and a wrestling background.

Nate's wrestling was known as serviceable/ borderline his weakness.

Yes Conor stopped all of nate's takedowns besides 1 in the 5th but that's not saying much imo and I bet on Conor that fight,

Nate never really has success with taking anyone down.

I agree. That was kind of my point. Stopping Eddie from getting him down will definitely be more difficult than it was stopping Nate.
