Trump is set to do an executive order banning China from buying up anymore US farmland. This is in the wake of China already buying up 19 strategic locations next to US military bases.
In addition, 2 Chinese PHD scientists have been recently arrested for smuggling in a biological pathogen that would devastate our farmland and livestock. This is potential eco-terrorism.
As a response, Trump is also looking into revoking the student visas from China - especially in areas of high sensitivity. This is a major escalation with Beijing, but necessary IMO.
This is in stark contrast to Gavin Newsom who vetoed a passed bipartisan bill that prohibited foreign governments from buying up California farmland. Newsom got heavy criticism from liberal California lawmakers. Newsom obviously sold out somehow. Why else would he go against his own party to allow China and other countries from buying up California land?

PSL promoted and organized protests on June 8, while DSA promoted protests for June 9 and 10. Revolutionary Communists of America members also attended the protests.

I don't view politics in a binary and I won't point out the shit in someone else's yard without acknowledging the shit in my own, especially if the piles are higher and smellier in mine. I also don't understand why they need to be the enemy nor view them that way, we're not militarily engaged with them and their foreign policy is far less harmful than ours. We've overthrown more democratically elected governments and have conducted and funded more genocide in our short existence than they could dream of. The MIC loves that team mindset though. I think the main goal for them is to grow food. Their country doesn't have good food stability. They don't have a good water supply and arable land(US 15 percent, China 10 percent) but they have roughly 4 times more people. They purchased Smithfield Foods for pork. A large chunk of farmland that they own is from a failed project. I think they were trying to do some solar/wind farm in Texas and got shot down. They also purchased a huge chunk of non farmland for wood in Oregon.
I think sensible solution might be to block sales near military bases and lease the land to them for periods of 5-10 years. I will admit I don't know the repercussions for domestic farmers that export food to China.
