Television TV Show Thread

just came in here to bitch about the handmaid's tale some more. i know y'all aren't the audience for it, but i have literally nowheres else to bitch about it lol. nobody i know watches it.

anyways, in this episode the writing and plot holes are so glaring. it's not the same show. not at all. if aunt lydia let a group of handmaids walk out freely she'd be hanged. except she won't be because she's needed for the next spin-off series. why a guard with a gun just let the handmaids run out is a mystery, some say the aunts have more authority over the handmaids than them, but we've seen these guys before, they'll shoot a bitch down with no hesitation. and how are these handmaids roaming the streets? what happened to all the check points, the guards, anybody, everybody. yes most ate serena's tainted wedding cake but come on, surely not every guard ate the cake, who was guarding the wedding then?

gilead used to suck so much because you couldn't even breathe wrong without facing fear of being shot or hanged or tortured. it felt suffocating and hopeless to watch. now it's like any other town where everybody can come and go freely and do as they please with no one stopping them. how the fuck are they passing MULTIPLE knives around under the guards' eyes? especially when they dropped one and it was heard hitting the floor.

AND ANOTHER THING

okay i forgot.

anyways, two episodes left, can't wait till it's over.

Aren’t you living in this timeline right now?

I'm just saying that it's a good thing I didn't start watching a show that's abruptly cancelled because it would be so frustrating not having any closure. Also there's a chance that the show might not be good and the cancellation might be an indication of its quality.
I'm speaking from someone who adores legal dramas, it's the best I've ever seen. Sticking the reboot on a Sunday night on network TV is doing fuck all for their ratings. I'm in actual mourning.

Ahh okay haha. I very much liked Fleabag but don't really follow much of her other stuff.
Fleabag rules. i wish she’d do another smaller short-run comedy-drama like that again. have you watched the National Theatre Live recording of her one woman show version?

Watched two episodes of MurderBot on Apple TV+ after seeing hype. So far so so.

Check out Crashing.

This other Crashing is pretty good too (yes, there are two shows called Crashing that were released at around the same time). Get your confusion out of the way, Phoebe is in one but they're both entertaining.

I read the (first) book and was pretty jazzed they were making this. I'm enjoying it but could see people being underwhelmed. I love the style of humor.

Is anyone watching Dead City S2?

Saw the trailer for season four of The Bear. I loved the first two seasons, season three I didn't bother to watch after my initial viewing, hoping for better

Restarted watching Fringe.
What a great series, I'm in season 2, finishing up.
One of my favorite series eva. Underrated character development... & who doesn't love Walter.

Segway here:
With everyone shaped by technology/internet & recursive relationship with technology/AI, I can see a evolution/devolution of the way this series ends out, with big chunk of our behaviors being very predictable by algorithms based on fixed responses of our salient states or deficiencies & desires.

A few episodes into Poker Face. It's pretty good. The acting is superb, and great guest stars every episode. A new crime/mystery every episode. Rian Johnson behind it, I like his stuff immensely. Offbeat, and nice amount of humor to offset the brutal murders.

I really enjoyed the first season and have yet to get into season 2. Glad you are enjoying it so far! Natasha Lyonne is great in the role.

THE WHEEL OF TIME Cancelled at Amazon's Prime Video After Three Seasons

Prime Video will not be renewing The Wheel of Time for a fourth season. The decision, which comes more than a month after the Season 3 finale was released April 17, followed lengthy deliberations. As often is the case in the current economic environment, the reasons were financial as the series is liked creatively by the streamer’s executives.

The TV adaptation of the book series by Robert Jordan and Brandon Sanderson, co-produced by Sony Pictures TV and Amazon MGM Studios, is a high-end, pricey fantasy drama, which ushered in the genre on Prime Video, later joined by The Lord Of the Rings: The Rings Of Power.

Starring Rosamund Pike, The Wheel Of Time got off to a strong start in 2021 as Prime Video’s most watched series premiere of the year and one of the platform’s Top 5 series launches of all time.

Three seasons in, the series has remained a solid performer but its viewership has slipped, with the fantasy drama dropping out of Nielsen’s Top 10 Originals chart after the first three weeks of Season 3 while staying on the list for the entire runs the previous two seasons. (The Wheel of Time was back on the Originals ranker for the week after the Season 3 finale at #10.)

The Nielsen rankings reflect U.S. viewership. Streaming renewal decisions are made based on how a show does around the world, and The Wheel of Time is a global title. It did rank as #1 on Prime Video in multiple countries with the most recent season. Still, the Season 3 overall performance was not strong enough compared to the show’s cost for Prime Video to commit to another season and the streamer could not make it work after examining different scenarios and following discussions with lead studio Sony TV, sources said.

With the cancellation possibility — and the show’s passionate fanbase — in mind, the Season 3 finale was designed to offer some closure.

Still, the news would be a gut punch for fans who have been praising the latest season as the series’ best yet creatively. Prime Video executives also have spoken of the show getting better creatively every season, which is supported by critics as Season 3 ranks 97% on Rotten Tomatoes, up from 86% for Season 2 and 81% for Season 1.

Prime Video and Sony TV will continue to back the Emmy campaign for The Wheel of Time‘s third season.

Indeed underrated character development, and I barely knew anything about it when it aired so binged it all after it had finished.

Sad that Your Friends and Neighbours is finishing next week. Suits was always going to be my favourite of the year but this wasn't far off, it walked all over Mobland and Mobland has been excellent.
