If you aren't down with America starting to expect and demand fair trade, and a level playing field in the WAR of international trade, then you are a complete idiot. Every voter with a brain has been waiting for this, and if Trump delivers, even as media powers strangely and suspiciously try to stop him, he will help America a lot. This is 30 years coming, and I pray it's not too late. It will be good for the super-rich, as well. We are still the customer base they need the most.

I liked about 80% of what Trump said, and it was an epic speech that only brainwashed lunatics could rebuke completely.

Interesting speech. Better than expected because he tried his best to play the role of President instead of his usual dumb asshole schtick that his true fans lap up. This was the first time since the election he has tried to pivot back to the middle to issues he has in common with the Dems. The GOP in general followed him down the road on things like anti-free trade, paid family leave huge infrastructure bills, huge deficit spending. It will be interesting if they will actually follow him to the table on it, or if the Dems even care to meet him there regardless of the issue.

Another interesting thing from this speech is how he basically threw the alt-right wing under the bus. Pepe is going to be pissed that he's distancing himself from the white nationalists.

I'm a little perplexed at the reason for giving this speech to Congress.
It's a campaign speech-not a bad one-rich in themes and platitudes but utterly lacking in real substance. I would expect a speech to Congress to have more "meat" to it.
He's got a lot to lay out-justifying his budget proposal, tax reform, healthcare plan, immigration, financial reforms, etc. What Congress got was broad policy which we already all know.

BTW, for those of you complaining about all the applause, it's usually best to wait until after the speech and read the transcript. Cuts the BS out, you can read a transcript in 5 minutes.
