Law Trumps home raided

So basically:

  1. After Trump lost the election he wanted to vent some anger by bombing the shit out of Iran.
  2. General Milley talked Trump out of it, and instructed the Joint Chiefs to notify him if Trump tried to do anything batshit.
  3. Susan Glasser eventually wrote a story about it for The New Yorker, and Trump became infuriated.
  4. The piece of classified information Trump is on tape discussing was a contingency plan from Milley, detailing how an invasion of Iran would take place, were it ever necessary.
  5. Trump, the fucking idiot, thinks this undermines Milley, and the claims that Milley had to stop Trump from attacking Iran. Except...contingency plans for all types of scenarios exist. Obviously It doesn't mean their implementation is imminent. Also, they should probably be kept under wraps, not left lying around your golf club.

what a fucking dumb ass. To think we have supporters of this insane piece of fuck in here makes me sick.

The real chef’s kiss is this part:
“Trump believed that the document outlining the report to attack Iran would undercut Milley’s reported assertions, though the report was actually written earlier in the Trump administration when Joseph Dunford was chairman of the joint chiefs, a person familiar with the document said.”

Trump supporters will un-ironically claim that this is a “witch hunt” when that’s the exact sort of behavior that got Trump into this mess in the first place.

They got Trump on tape, with the classified documents. Margo Martin, his aide recorded a lot of his meetings on her laptop.
I can not wait for the mental gymnastics of the typical Trump Fan Boi, trying to spin Trump basically admitting his crimes.
I expect some whataboutism, mixed in with he did not mean what he said, then witch hunt, to eventually as they always do, get to the so what phase of Trumps bullshit.
Instead of commander in Chief, Donny will be Commander in Cuffs.

Yeah, I'm struggling with this conspiracy too.

The evil Biden WH secretly coordinated with the DOJ to launch a raid at Mar-a-Lago, and in a stunning coincidence they found trump in possession of classified docs he had sworn he didn't have?

you forgot the part where he insinuated that the fbi planted all of those documents in the mar a lago but then he got really upset when the fbi came and took them from him and he filed a frivolous lawsuit to try to get them back.

you just cant make this shit up

mess thinking about making a thread on this. Couldn’t use search function to bump this one.

they have lied throughout this, including they knew of Biden’s documents before this. It is as if they knew republicans would control the house and/or senate and would be able to start looking into this stuff and then created a false flag to gas light the public over classified documents.

just more weaponized legal system under China Joe Biden.

it is all clear in broad daylight. Lefties love it tho, so they will ignore this
trump brazenly violated the law in broad daylight and his army defends his criminal behavior by saying look over here instead........

It's because they think the criminal scum will oppress their enemies more than the scum will oppress them.

I seem to remember hearing "they are hurting the wrong people" quoted.

It just gives people an excuse to be the worst version of themselves and enjoy people suffering.

It's a lack of decency. But it's now an issue of sunk cost. So they will carry on.

Donald Trump’s attorneys have been unable to find the classified document described in a recording of a 2021 conversation that is now in the possession of prosecutors, CNN reports.

Earlier this week, the network broke the news that a recording existed of the former president acknowledging that he had held onto a classified Pentagon document outlining a potential attack on Iran.

Citing two sources, CNN now reports that attorneys for Mr Trump could not find the document he referred to when they turned over material in mid-March in response to a federal subpoena relating to the investigation.

So either he lost the document, or even worse, he handed it off to someone else. To be fair, I guess there is also a third option, based on the rumors surrounding Trump: he ate it.

"very stable genius"...

If just about anyone else stole a contingency plan for the invasion of Iran, then lost it or gave it (sold it?) away, they'd be at the bottom of dark hole getting waterboarded right about now. Trump thinks he's treated more unfairly than anyone else, but the opposite is the truth.

This right here^

Is an "OH $HIT!" moment.

An example of how other people are treated when they commit similar offenses to what Trump has:

A retired Air Force lieutenant colonel was sentenced to three years in federal prison Thursday for storing files with classified information at his Florida home, the Department of Justice announced.

Robert Birchum pleaded guilty earlier this year to unlawfully possessing and retaining classified documents relating to national defense, the department said in a news release.

Birchum served nearly three decades in the Air Force and held several roles that required him to handle classified information, prosecutors said. In his plea agreement, Birchum admitted to having stored hundreds of files that contained information with top secret, secret or confidential classification markings in unauthorized locations

Adam Serwer's The Cruelty Is The Point article from 2018 nailed their psychology:

...It is not just that the perpetrators of this cruelty enjoy it; it is that they enjoy it with one another. Their shared laughter at the suffering of others is an adhesive that binds them to one another, and to Trump.

Taking joy in that suffering is more human than most would like to admit. Somewhere on the wide spectrum between adolescent teasing and the smiling white men in the lynching photographs are the Trump supporters whose community is built by rejoicing in the anguish of those they see as unlike them, who have found in their shared cruelty an answer to the loneliness and atomization of modern life.

The laughter undergirds the daily spectacle of insincerity, as the president and his aides pledge fealty to bedrock democratic principles they have no intention of respecting...

This isn’t incoherent. It reflects a clear principle: Only the president and his allies, his supporters, and their anointed are entitled to the rights and protections of the law, and if necessary, immunity from it. The rest of us are entitled only to cruelty, by their whim. This is how the powerful have ever kept the powerless divided and in their place, and enriched themselves in the process.

A blockbuster New York Times investigation on Tuesday reported that President Trump’s wealth was largely inherited through fraudulent schemes, that he became a millionaire while still a child, and that his fortune persists in spite of his fumbling entrepreneurship, not because of it. The stories are not unconnected. The president and his advisers have sought to enrich themselves at taxpayer expense; they have attempted to corrupt federal law-enforcement agencies to protect themselves and their cohorts, and they have exploited the nation’s darkest impulses in the pursuit of profit. But their ability to get away with this fraud is tied to cruelty.

Trump’s only true skill is the con; his only fundamental belief is that the United States is the birthright of straight, white, Christian men, and his only real, authentic pleasure is in cruelty. It is that cruelty, and the delight it brings them, that binds his most ardent supporters to him, in shared scorn for those they hate and fear: immigrants, black voters, feminists, and treasonous white men who empathize with any of those who would steal their birthright. The president’s ability to execute that cruelty through word and deed makes them euphoric. It makes them feel good, it makes them feel proud, it makes them feel happy, it makes them feel united. And as long as he makes them feel that way, they will let him get away with anything, no matter what it costs them.

This sounds correct and I'm yet to hear a coherent rebuttal of it.

And Meatball Ron will get all their votes by offering orange man a pardon.

I have no horse in the race, but for some reason anti trumpers believe that cheating and treason is ever going to be seen as morally good by their political opponents.

You are literally gleaming over another proof that lefties are not to be interacted with as they are a treacherous mob that will undermine and record you and stab you in the back at the first opportunity to get ahead.

I’d rather have an honest idiot in charge.

It was trumps staff that recorded him………being a criminal………and that’s a stain on the left……..

Many on the left are reprehensible but I don’t understand your argument at all…

If you go into conversations with the idea of recording them then you are a rat. Being a rat is despicable no matter what the motivation might be. It's cowardly and treacherous.

Again it wasn’t the left. It was trumps team. But no. It’s smart to record if you fear you’re at risk. Only criminals worry about a rat.
