Trump's DOJ gears up for crackdown on marijuana

Pot smoking burnouts are insufferable and pothead culture should be heavily discouraged

Yes, but I don't believe it warrants the federal resources allocated to busting pot smokers when there are so many bigger issues out there for them to go after

Plus, I'd be really curious to see if the Pothead culture actually deteriorates once it's legal and somewhat acceptable. Also, legalization means a substantial influx of tax dollars to the state without hurting my paycheck so I'm happy to slap them with a "sin" tax we're not otherwise collecting

I'm kinda against potheads, but for its legalization, if that makes sense

I was the biggest pothead of all time until ~ 2 months ago when I needed to clean up my system before I traveled around backpacking.

The ironic thing is that if you would've been subjected to the same 'no tolerance' policies that you advocate itt, you would be sitting in jail right now, unable to travel around and go backpacking, and, considering the fact that you want 'no tolerance' to keep 'junkies' off the streets, that would imply you are charging them with felonies (you can't hold someone very long, if at all, for misdemeanors), so your life would be basically ruined. You'd be forced to declare that you are a convicted felon on any job application - good luck getting a job even at McDonalds.

This is the bottomless pit you want to throw people into.

The funny thing is that despite the fact that you literally couldn't demonstrate an ounce of self-control, and became a 'dangerously addicted pothead', you were able to miraculously pull yourself out of the drug-laced death spiral, and become a "clean" person, but you are too short-sighted to consider that other people might be able to do the same, without needing forced incarceration and felonies ruining their lives.

I lived this in the 70's and ended up taking a huge detour as a first hand result. And just recently it slapped my family big time as I watched my youngest son morph into a completely different person. so nearly harmless is a loooooooong way from harmless

So basically what you are saying is that nobody should be able to enjoy bacon if some lard-asses completely lack self-control and ruin their lives because of it.

Well, no -- as soon as I figured out that I would become subjected to "no tolerance" drug policies, I quit using drugs. That's the point. And I was a huge pothead.

Yes.. let's jail people for non-crimes.

This administration is a bad joke

Pot's not a dangerous drug. It's a slippery slope though. That's why it should be illegal.

We can't figure out healthcare, but we can gear up to tackle this dumb shit.

Sessions is a moron.

Marijuana leading to violence... Lol.

Statistics prove you are most likely to beat your wife then stab your kids just after doing a j. It's science.

I am sure all of the pot smokers will show up and vote next election as long as there isn't a big line on the way to get their pizza.

This is what was voted for. If you don't like it then change it.

I blame television. From Cheech & Chong to Seth Rogen, a history of marijuana-fueled violence has ripped through our culture & glorified their hyper-aggressive, thug-like lifestyles

On the face of it, I'm against this. I love smoking weed myself.

But I just traveled to a few countries that haven't started the liberalized attitude towards drugs yet and .. well, it makes for better societies.

If a cop can randomly search you, make you pee in a cup without probable cause walking down the street, and put you in jail because a positive random drug test counts as drug possession.. well -- there was virtually no crime, no bums, no homeless, no crackheads, no thugs.. all of it, gone. They were all in jail.

Seeing all that in a city of 30 MILLION people packed like sardine cans was, quite frankly, an amazing experience that changed my mind on this. I have no problem with strict drug laws and more. Under American drug laws and police laws, that city would have been a hellhole instead of the paradise that it was.

Yea dude why go the freedom route with some criminal justice reform when you can just go full blown authoritarian

I wish you gun guys would get it. Inch by inch for the good of society and if they can do weedheads sooner or later it will be some wack as lib that can do you too and the drug fight is your fight too. They will get you in the name of fighting crime and it will all be dudes you voted for that pave the way

Do you believe that Americans should have had the freedom to racially segregate their private property in the 1950s? Even though it led to huge swaths of the country where black people couldn't even go grocery shopping?

Freedom isn't always good. Private property rights, including owning your own body, aren't always good.

Will Sessions even make it long enough to do anything? Doubtful.
