Just went into debt for a business degree, why don't work in a factory instead?
wish i could find the link, but in the run up to 2016 NPR went all over NC talking to people from tiny towns to big cities and just doing soft interviews asking about people's thoughts. I felt so bad when they were interviewing some citizens of a declining former textile mill town. They were so hopeful trump would turn things around. Maybe open up the mill again. maybe get the movie theater running again. These weren't crazy maga cultists, they just felt left behind, forgotten, and trump made an effort to reach out to them even though he had zero solutions to offer. it's sad to see the desperation of these people used against them.
Because our country is so big I believe it’s hard for people to really understand what existence is like for Americans with a vastly different existence based on their geographical location.
When you drive through the Midwest all of the hopeless, forlorn, depressed emo music that came out of there makes sense. You can feel the sense of hopelessness and emptiness that permeates those giant fields of nothing. I didn’t start listening to hip-hop until I went to New York but you can understand how and why that music took off there. Spend any time stuck in an endless suburban sprawl and you will start getting subconsciously pissy and angry about it. Now add some teenage angst and hormones and you’ve got punk rock.
I am lucky enough to travel all over the United States for work. I was just in Austin, then Philly, and I’ll be in New Jersey in a couple weeks. It is easier to understand the POV of people when you spend a little time in their environments. not everybody has that opportunity, unfortunately.
on the contrary, rent probably going up..rent free
Thanks mate. Just started my Canada holiday so I don’t think I’ll be in this thread much for the next three weeksI got serious admiration for @Neph 's patience in this thread.

Do non-Catholics care about the pope?Honestly it feels like he's trolling his own supporters at this point. He openly mocks their religion, and they kiss the ring. He mocks their economic struggles. They kiss the ring. He lies to them incessantly. They kiss the ring. He makes promises and then reneges. They kiss the ring. He shits all over the Constitution. They kiss the ring.
He's basically taunting them at this point. It's like he's challenging them to turn on him. And I think it's become pretty clear at this point that they aren't able to.
There has never been a more bitch-made group of servile imbeciles than MAGA. What a creepy and gross little cult. The only difference between Trump and Jim Jones is that Trump would charge for the Kool-Aid. And his supporters would pay him for it.
