There's an argument that most of if not all of the improved economic performance of the US relative to other developed economies is because of our immigration policy. Idk if I buy that its quite that decisive but there's no doubt its part of the secret sauce that makes America uniquely productive.Yeah but we’re demonizing immigrants and scaring them from coming here. The main reason China is predicted to not pass us is due to their aging population. Trump is doing everything he can to slow down our GDP growth. If we didn’t have immigration we’d most likely be in a similar situation. Most people aren’t having enough kids but we make up for that with young families coming here to work. This is one reason in very much pro-immigration. They also commit less crimes on average despite the hysteria coming from the right.
Trump is not only scaring off immigrants on the low skill side of things with the aggressive mass deportation of immigrants from the Americas, he's also going to scare off talented students and professionals who might think of moving to the US. On this I strongly disagree with Deorum but I'm probably a bit radical in regards to immigration generally in that I think the problem of illegal immigration is more of an issue of bureaucracy, in that the system is not equipped to deal with the inflow of immigrants that our economy organically attracts, rather than an enforcement one, where the goal is to harshly enforce existing law so as to reduce migrant inflow to the US.
