Eh, no they aren’t. I understand your point, but the economy and prices were bigger issues than economic policies or even the border. But the problem we have now is much bigger than that; in a world where Americans hadn’t lost their damn minds and the government functioned like it should, Trump should either have never been POTUS or should’ve been impeached, removed, and barred from holding public office years ago. He should be in a courtroom facing his other 60 felonies right now.
Yes, we may have still lost to the GOP in 2024, but we wouldn’t be dealing with this crazy shit (I hope).
We’re in this mess for much deeper reasons: a lot of Americans have been swept up in a populist, nationalist movement, conservative media has finally succeeded in becoming pervasive and keeping their viewers/listeners in a bubble, the Right has become really slick with pseudo-intellectual style messaging that substitutes for actual learning and knowledge…
This isn’t a thing that would’ve gone away if we’d had a different immigration policy or something. We have really serious issues in this country that are deeper than that.

We're in this mess because the GOP didn't have the spine to stand up to Trump after Jan 6th. Had Senate Republicans voted to convict him in the Senate he would've been ineligible for office come 2024. And if GOP voters have any commitment to the Constitution they wouldn't rocketed Trump to the top of the ticket.
But as usual centrist goobers like @Rob Battisti will blame Dems for the sins of the GOP as if the latter are just not accountable for their own actions and everything they do is some mechanical reaction to Democrat short comings.

the economy will be in the toilet, gdp and cpi numbers will be absolute down the shithole. a lot of businesses will close down due to not being able to afford the tariffs. US will lose the soft power on the world stage, isolate itself while other countries look for alternative markets and form trade agreements with each other, exclude the US
