Despite that, and despite all the claims and a seperate AOC says dumb things thread there are almost no quotes of it. Just statement after statement like yours that 'she says and does dumb stuff' but with nothing anyone can cite. And I was one of the first to call her out on thinking in blocking Amazon she saved $3B that could now be spent on Teachers. That is a huge and dumb statement to think and say, but beyond that there is shockingly little.

One thing people seem to get wrong about the 3 billion dollar statement is she expected 3 billion for the teachers. She knows how the system works when they go before the state or the city if they are giving massive tax breaks to these companies she will hear the excuses well we don't have the money for new school buildings, teacher raises, pensions and any number of things. This is not that she is expecting billions towards these programs she's expecting the excuses such as look at all the jobs that where created even though there is little evidence that these things actually deliver in the numbers that where talked about before hand.

Many of these things are getting cut now that previous commitments go unfulfilled. You look at the billions given by states towards football stadiums one est. puts it at around 27 billion total dollars around the country towards football stadiums. Look at Jarad Kurshner looking for a 1 billion form the Government for upscale apartment development. We hear the thing look at all the jobs all the time but do they ever last or even deliver the numbers that we promised. In the case of Amazon the biggest supporters of the 3 billion dollars in tax breaks where property owners in the area who could see their properties being sold for much higher rates with an Amazon East office building. For years Republicans have been crying about Jeff Bezos and how he is killing off businesses like Walmart, heck even Trump talked about an Amazon tax but now that it takes a stance that Republicans seem to love giving them massive tax breaks on the backs of others they are all in for Amazon. Not seeing the hand writing on the wall is the first thing these guys love to do to, people the other there is a good chance that Amazon may have never gone through with the New York HQ because Jeff spending a ton of money around Washington on his own personal property such as one of the most valuable properties in DC.

EDIT: AOC even gives an example about a Trump golf course that the City gave him 120 million dollars but he gets to keep most of the money.

i do not think she knows how the system works at all. I watched her initial statement and it was woefully naive.

I mean she may know, once someone sits down and explains it to her, as she likely covered it in her economics classes (I hope) but because she is to tied to extreme left wing politics and likely is not reading enough balanced material, she just jumped on the 'all things Amazon must be bad', bandwagon without applying any critical thought.

what we can clearly correlate via this thread is that actually making MORE stupid/uniformed/ignorant/belligerent statements gets you farther than saying far less.

Its a limited sample size but I think it will be interesting to continue to watch this through the next few election cycles and see if the trend of the most stupid people on social media are the ones who rise the highest.
