As far as I am aware, there’s no evidence that Clinton and the DNC knew that their law firm had hired Fusion GPS for opposition research nor that they in turn subcontracted Orbis (Steele’s company).

But I will concede it’s a a bit suspect, that’s why the DOJ is currently investigating it. If they find that the members of the DNC had direct knowledge of this, then they should face charges. Root out corruption on all levels, regardless of party.

The question arises from this:

On Friday’s edition of Morning Joe, FEC chair Ellen Weintraub declined to talk about the specifics of Trump’s case but noted that “the law is pretty clear. ... It is absolutely illegal for anyone to solicit, accept, or receive anything of value from a foreign national in connection with any election in the United States.”​

Now its obvious that Clinton campaign and other DNC operatives solicited Steele (foriegn national) for the dossier.
And Schiff asked Ukrainian comedians (foreign nationals); that he thought were govt officials, for the pee tape and had his staff follow up with Ukraine's embassy back in '16.


I can provide links for all the above, but its fairly common knowledge - or should be. So, I'm just looking for some consistency from people calling for Trumps impeachment.

They were paying for opposition research, common in campaigns. But there is no proof as of now that they knew what company was hired, who they subcontracted, nor how the information was obtained. Basically, no proof they knew the means of what went into gathering the information. Quite possible they did, but it’s not yet proven.
