Social Trump threatens Bruce Springsteen

I'm goin' down, know it just from the photo. Great tune, I've started learning it a couple times on piano but never get very far with all the other stuff i have to do.
That's cool as fuck, brother. I'm a bass player and all I can do is keep beat. I do it well, though. Good luck with that. Keep me posted? I'm gonna post another song that is of the same genre.

played the shit out to the point of driving you to hatred huh?
In every damn department store, in the mall, at the beach, everywhere!
My tastes tend towards heavier and more experimental music but i can appreciate lots of types of music. But not those 3. Its like some people in Long Island dont understand there is other music out there.

why do you hate springsteen? I notice that the most people are willing to say about him is that he's a dork and most of those people are west coasters who just think they are cooler than everyone else anyway. I don't meet many people from other regions of the country who don't like him. I know that's changes since he began talking more and more politics though. Back when he chided Reagan for using him in a Jersey speech and was speaking for the vietnam vets he wasn't a problem. It's only in recent years that he's pissed people off and become "commie Bruce" to them.
It's nothing political. I don't care what a musician believes as long as the art is good. I've always just seen him as a knock off of the great writers of the 60s like Dylan and Cohen. I think there's lots of others who took that style and did a better job with it. Neil Young being one. But it's just a matter of taste in the end I guess. I'm a lyrics guy first and foremost and he lines just don't connect with me.

Some people just don't like some music. For me, the most powerful album of Bruce's has always been Darkness On The Edge Of Town and it ain't because the music is so great, the lyrics aren't flowery or imaginative, just purely visceral like the whole album. So, as far as musical catchiness, several albums were better and the lyrics on his first three albums were incredible. That was truly when he was imitating his heroes the most and his lyrics would never be the same after.

I stood stonelike
at midnight
suspended in my masquerade
I combed my hair til it was just right
and commanded the night brigade.

I was open to pain
crossed by the rain
I walked on a crooked crutch
I strolled all alone through a fallout zone
an came out with my soul untouched

He'd never write like that when he was going for the commercial audiences of Born In The USA

It's not like that over here, Bruce was only hot for the Born In The USA and most of the people, especially other musicians think bruce is a "dork", the most common word they have for him and I always got tease for being a fan. I mean, even in his era he was playing a harmonica an shit in the 80's which if you go look at the imagery of most 80's music, it's nothing like that.

Seattlites are posers and "cooler than thou" especially musicians.

The guy wrote an anti-American anthem decades ago, not at all surprised by this. The Taylor Swift tweet is more thread worthy in my opinion lol Imagine Trump speaking that out loud at a rally. "Anyone else notice that now shes NOT HOT?!"

I wouldn't say Born in the USA is anti-American. It's anti-war.

I can appreciate it. I'm no artist and have some respect for anyone who dedicates their life to the creative process. But all art's an interactive process eh? It's really what two people bring to it that makes it sacred. Like "Atlantic City", I think that particular song, lyrically, is extremely powerful. I can see bits of myself in those lyrics and he hits all the sweet and sour spots just right imo. And I actually fucking hate Atlantic City irl. That's great art.

I wouldn't say Born in the USA is anti-American. It's anti-war.

It highlighted the hypocrisy of flag-waving patriotism and the fact that when they got home after they killed and got shot up, they were left behind.
Id say its not even anti-war

Its somewhat anti-vietnam at most, but more a commentary about the treatment of Vets when they come home.

"Come back home to the refinery
Hirin' man says, “Son, if it was up to me”
Went down to see my V.A. man
He said, “Son, don't you understand,” now"

Trump probably paradoxically hates him for this. Standing up for those "suckers and losers"

Why he cut 8k jobs from the VA

I'm a bass player as well.

Still triggered by Kamala <lol>

What a great use of our federal resources, policing the free speech of musicians.
