As a US Marine who served as a grunt in Iraq, I can't see how anyone can justify the pardon based on the finding of the court. Hell, just read the wiki at a minimum.
That shit wouldn't be acceptable by even the greenest private, nor can it be chalked up to the fog of war. Both these an the Gallagher pardon seem to play well with the far right media, but I haven't ever heard a vet in favor of it.

The big one that was fucked up was pardoning (following in the footsteps of Clinton) the FALN terrorists who were brought up on sedition charges.
