Elections Trump offered to pardon Assange if he covered up Russian interference in US election

And there we have it, folks. Another damn nothingburger.

What you missed was the Mueller report. Clearly the Russians interfered in our elections. And instead of Trump wanting his name cleared he engaged in multiple events of obstruction.

...by shitposting on social media. the same thing we're doing now.

Odd considering Assange has already claimed Russia wasn't involved in the hack. Something smells like bullshit

To be fair, from a logical perspective, both could be true.

1) Russian could have had nothing to do with the DNC hack; and
2) Trump could have told Assange to say so in return for a pardon.

Neither fact relies on the other.

That being said, I do agree that the idea that Trump sent a Congressman to deliver such a message in 2017 is questionable, because Assange had already denied Russian involvement in 2016, as referenced in this article (https://www.cnn.com/2017/01/04/politics/assange-wikileaks-hannity-intv/index.html).

I don't recall any obvious triggers or signs of Assange changing his story in 2017 which would require threatening Assange to do what he was already doing.

I think you should actually read the report. You're still pushing the 2016 leftist kneejerk accusation that Russia "hacked the election" and that Trump was "Putin's puppet." If you're going to claim that you have read the report, please explain what you don't understand about the finding that there was no collusion between Russia and Trump/Trump's campaign.

Donald Trump offered to pardon Julian Assange if he covered up Russia’s interference in the 2016 US election, a court has heard.

The explosive claim – which could have profound consequences for Mr Trump’s re-election effort if proven true – emerged as Assange, 48, appeared at Westminster Magistrates’ Court ahead of hearing next week about his possible extradition to the US.

His barrister Edward Fitzgerald QC highlighted evidence alleging former US Republican congressman Dana Rohrabacher had been to see Assange in the Ecuadorian embassy in August 2017.

He said a statement from Assange’s lawyer Jennifer Robinson shows “Mr Rohrabacher going to see Mr Assange and saying, on instructions from the president, he was offering a pardon or some other way out, if Mr Assange ... said Russia had nothing to do with the DNC leaks”.

A series of emails embarrassing for the Democrats and the Hillary Clinton presidential campaign were hacked before being published by WikiLeaks in 2016.

District Judge Vanessa Baraitser said the evidence is admissible.

Assange is wanted in America to face 18 charges, including conspiring to commit computer intrusion, over the publication of US cables a decade ago.

He could face up to 175 years in jail if found guilty.

He is accused of working with former US army intelligence analyst Chelsea Manning to leak hundreds of thousands of classified documents.

The extradition hearing is due to begin at Woolwich Crown Court on Monday, beginning with a week of legal argument.

It will then be adjourned and continue with a three weeks of evidence scheduled to begin on May 18.

The decision, which is expected months later, is likely to be appealed against by the losing side, whatever the outcome.

Assange has been held on remand in Belmarsh prison since last September after serving a 50-week jail sentence for breaching his bail conditions while he was in the Ecuadorian embassy in London.

He entered the building in 2012 to avoid extradition to Sweden over sex offence allegations, which he has always denied and were subsequently dropped.

Assange appeared in court on Wednesday by videolink from Belmarsh prison, wearing dark tracksuit bottoms and a brown jumper over a white shirt.

He spoke to confirm his name and date of birth, and sat holding a stack of papers during the hearing.

The hearing came after Australian MPs George Christensen and Andrew Wilkie called on Tuesday for Boris Johnson to intervene and stop the extradition hearing.

Shadow chancellor John McDonnell is expected to become the first British MP to see Assange behind bars in a visit to Belmarsh on Thursday.

At a press conference on Tuesday it emerged that fellow inmates at the high-security prison successfully lobbied for his release from solitary confinement.

Speaking after the press conference, Assange’s father John Shipton said his son’s condition had improved, but said the extradition going ahead would be akin to a “death sentence”.

Does Putin have dirt on Trump, or are they just really good friends?

edit: dun goofed up the title.. can a mod please change it to "Trump offered to pardon Assange if he covered up Russian interference in US election"

Fake news.

Robacher told Assage that if he provided proof that he thought Assange would deserve a pardon and that he would speak to Trump about it.

You guys can't even get your own CTs right.

News of this offer by Dear Leader won't even begin to crack the shell of any Trump nut.

Most corrupt president ever going to do most corrupt shit

Trump supporters like lol yeah he sucks so what?

you going to impeach him again?

He’s going to suck for 5 more years

Deal with it

Who doesn't offer pardons for political favors? What's the big deal?

Lmao , no it isn't , this came out of a court hearing .

<puh-lease75>

Don’t worry the party of law and order will be all over this.

And according to Alan Dershowitz if trump let Putin have Alaska it wouldn’t be an impeachable offense

This could be all true and Trumpcucks wouldn't bat an eye. He can literally do anything he wants and they will applaud.

As the facts now come out in the face of Trump and his spokesperson lies does ANYONE deny where this is going?

Step 1 - Assange lawyer states Trump thru Rohrabacher offered Assange a Pardon if he fabricated a position on Russia and Ukraine involvement in election

Step 2 - Trump team comes out harshly with Trump claiming he does not know Rohrabacher and this is all a DNC lie

Step 3 - (to come) Assange team starts to release proof of meetings, audio or video of meetings and topic, and proof of Trump meeting with Rohrabacher is unearthed by media

Step 4 - (to come) Trump and crew switch to, 'he did not do it' but 'he would have every right to ask for it, if he did'

Step 5 - (to come) "ya, ok Trump did do that but so what. Everybody does it and there is nothing wrong with it. Trump was seeking the 'truth' from Assange.

I think we should have pretty near bipartisan sherdog poster agreement on how this plays out if, in fact Assange's team can substantiate their claim, which I would not be shocked if they could, otherwise why raise it?

just think and smile for a moment. Trump has about 9 months left in his presidency. Glorious

How did the headline fall apart? You have Assange's lawyer claiming one thing, and Robacher claiming something different....although close in nature.

How do you decide which of these two people is telling the truth other than just choosing the one who has the story that you like better?

If you're going to claim that you have read the report, please explain what you don't understand about the finding that there was no collusion between Russia and Trump/Trump's campaign.

"did not find sufficient evidence that the campaign "coordinated or conspired with the Russian government in its election-interference activities". Investigators ultimately had an incomplete picture of what happened due to communications that were encrypted, deleted or unsaved, as well as testimony that was false, incomplete or declined. However, the report stated that Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election was illegal and occurred "in sweeping and systematic fashion", but was welcomed by the Trump campaign as it expected to benefit from such efforts. It also identifies links between Trump campaign officials and individuals with ties to the Russian government, about which several persons connected to the campaign made false statements and obstructed investigations. Mueller later stated that his investigation's conclusion on Russian interference "deserves the attention of every American".

And the obstruction continues against any attempt to hold Trump accountable for his actions.

yes, actually. i see that you have not, if you think it listed much more than shit-posting campaigns... and insinuated that it contained 'mah russian collusion.'
"Additionally, computer hackers affiliated with the Russian military intelligence service (GRU) infiltrated information systems of the Democratic National Committee (DNC), the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC), and Clinton campaign officials, notably chairman John Podesta, and publicly released stolen files and emails through DCLeaks, Guccifer 2.0 and WikiLeaks during the election campaign."

What actions? And lol at you lefties always using the vaguest points to support your arguments.
