Why wouldn't the GOP bring investigations and indictments against Joe Biden's son if they thought they could win and harm a major political rival?
Here's the truth and the problem. Trump did a lot of dumb things and some of those things were criminal adjacent (we'll wait to see if he's actually convicted). But his political supporters spent the entire 2016 political cycle running around telling everyone how great Trump was, that he was going to drain the swamp, etc. They preached that narrative so aggressively that they cannot admit that he has shown himself to be a pretty shitty person, regardless of his political policies. And the only way to save face at this point is: 1) argue that Trump never does anything wrong, and 2) argue that everyone else is doing something worse.
In other cultures, when they lose face, people literally commit suicide. In the US, when a political party's supporters lose face, they wrap themselves up in whataboutisms and 'yeah, but..." theories.
I know from years of reading your posts that you're better than that.
