SCOTUS said nope and bitch slapped Jack Smith. Jack Smith just learned that it is the Defendant's prerogative to fast track, not the Prosecution's. You must give the Defense the opportunity and time for a proper Defense if that is what they want, the Prosecution doesn't get to rush them, because they have Authoritarian motives. Smith is an asshole for even trying it.

well after the circuit court strikes down his ridiculous appeal, they will just lift judge chutkans stay and the trial can move forward. they have no reason not to. the scotus didn't jump in and say they wanted to touch this or tell them to put any kind of hold on it either.

then all of a sudden in february or whenever the trial is around the corner trump will appeal to the supreme court and be like "stop this right now! forget about what i said before when i told you there is no hurry to listen to my argument. i didn't mean it that way! i'm about to go to trial and i don't really have a defense to make so you have to act on this immediately and stay the circuit courts ruling immediately and we can maybe talk about my appeal in a couple years or something, just not right now because that part isn't of interest to me! its of the utmost urgency for you guys to put a hold back on this trial but then sit on your hands as long as you can! you need to pause this case to listen to my argument one of these years, but just not this year! i know i said this argument of mine wasn't urgent, but i didn't pinky swear on it!"

this is such a frivolous argument that will go nowhere but he's desperate just to try to buy for time. one month he's saying to take their time blah blah blah but as soon as the appelate court strikes him down he's going to be singing a different tune. there is no signal from the scotus that they are going to take this matter up, therefore after they strike down his appeal they will lift the stay. but in all likelihood, unless the appeals court acts fast, the trial date is still going to likely be pushed forward a bit. the appelate court have decided to fast track this matter to january 9th to have their hearings on it, but theres still a good possibility that they could move on it before then.

i doubt the scotus will even bother to take him up on it. there's no merit to any of it and it's all nonsense. but if they decide to take this up and at least hear him out and make a ruling, this shit might end up going all the way into the summer before the trial gets underway.

if scotus doesn't take it up, it will still go trial and he can still always try to appeal the verdict to the scotus after he gets convicted and he can have another shot at making that argument while he sits in a cell over in trump tower rikers island and thinks about what he's done. but scotus are under no obligation to hear this appeal at all and they havent instructed the lower courts to do anything or even signalled that they are going to take this argument on, so expect the lower courts to simply just go by that when they make their ruling on appeal. the scotus didnt order anything, therefore the stay on the trial will go poof after they make their ruling and the trial will move forward. next thing you know little trumpy trumpy wumpy is gonna be kicking and screaming to the supreme court yelling "hurry hurry! save me save me!"

The prosecution has authoritarian motives eh? The issue at hand is in regards to presidential immunity. Can you provide the conservative viewpoint on immunity for ex-presidents?
