Trump says he would 'absolutely' testify at his own criminal trial

While the former president did not specify which case he'd be willing to take the stand in, he said he was looking forward to testifying if any of the cases against him make it to trial.

Former President Donald Trump said Wednesday in an interview that he'd "absolutely" take the witness stand in his own defense if the criminal cases against him go to trial.

"Oh yes, absolutely. ... That, I would do," Trump said when asked by radio host Hugh Hewitt if he'd testify. "That, I look forward to."

Trump did not specify which of the four criminal cases against him he'd be willing to testify in, and also suggested that none of them will actually make it to trial.

"They’ll get dismissed, but we’re going to be asking, we’re going to be asking for dismissals of these politically motivated cases," Trump said.

"This is a scam. This is election interference," he contended.

Defense lawyers typically advise clients not to take the witness stand, and Trump has not testified publicly since he was elected president in 2016.

He declined to testify in a civil battery and defamation trial brought by writer E. Jean Carroll earlier this year, and also declined an offer to testify at his second impeachment trial in 2021.

He has sat for closed-door civil depositions, including for the Carroll case and another lawsuit that's been filed by the New York state

first of all, defendants taking the stand in a criminal trial is rare, and most people don't elect to do it, even when they're not guilty. if they can attack the defendants character and then poke enough holes in their testimony, it can be damning enough just to get the person convicted, even if their evidence presented against them during trial isnt exactly airtight. it usually doesnt help the defenses case, the best advice during criminal trials is to simply keep your mouth shut and let your attorneys do the work.

Mr. If You Plead The Fifth You're Guilty has pled the fifth over 400 times during his new york trump organization deposition in just one sitting. The twice impeached, election-losing rapist refused to testify during his impeachment trials. He refused to testify during the Mueller investigation. He fled the country just to avoid having to testify at a civil trial this year because he was terrified of being caught lying while under oath and would rather be known as a rapist than a bad golfer.

Mr. Only Mobsters Plead The Fifth ain't gonna say shit. he's gonna sit there silently at the advice of his legal counsel and watch helplessly as he gets taken down as the judge tells him to wipe that stupid scowl off of his face. and then when the verdicts come down, he'll blame his deep state swamp donkey lawyers (who never liked trump anyways!) for "not letting him testify" and the chuds will gobble that nonsense all up and believe that he was somehow being silenced in an unfair trial just for making his own decision to not testify in court.

if orange cosby dares to take the stand and testify, they may as well just start work on trump tower rikers island the next day. they'll hang him out to dry when its time for cross examination. no way he'll get on the witness stand. he wouldnt last a minute without perjuring or incriminating himself.

man needs to be on the cover of a romance novel. 6 months of training and he'd be the UFC heavyweight champion.

Trump doesn't look much better , the walls closing in on him aretaking their toll.

The last 'walls' that 'closed around him' belonged to Stormy Daniels.

Trump won't spend a day in prison, he'll get a fine which his supporters will pay for (donate to fight for america!) and he'll get some fancy version of house arrest that won't really be house arrest.

the dudes up on 91 felony counts, some of which carry minimum 1 and minimum 5 year prison terms under the sentencing guidelines.

well if that turns out to be the case, and they just let him chill at his golf course after all of that, then there would really be a two-tiered justice system, seeing how if it was joe random who was found to have committed those crimes, he'd never see the outsides of a prison facility again.

Pretty much what Im expecting to happen, and his supports will use this as a victory, rather than an obvious real version of a favoured justice system.
Dudes rich, old, white and an ex-president. he wont see a cell.
Would be hilarious though

Everyone of Trump’s lawyers would quit before they let that dumb serial liar on the stand.
My 1st question to Trump would be tell me the story again about your Daddy only giving you a small million dollar loan which is how you got your wealth while currently the head of the company your grandma started.

I think that's great... and about fucking time they did something about those jerkoffs.

Still..... what made you think this has anything whatsoever to do with this thread? You can't derail this train.
Do you get lost in the grocery store, bud?

I think that would be a terrible outcome to all this. America will be proper fucked if he suffers no real consequences.
