Travis Fulton had a 40 fight win streak, why no UFC contract?

rickson was asking for too much money, they wanted him for ufc 1 but he said not for that money. then the gracies sent the smallest gracie at the time to show you dont need to be big to win a fight and that bjj is supreme.
You´re confusin´ UFC 1 with post-UFC 5...

perhaps was it also them wanting to send the youngest at the time?? i think i remember a narrative like that, and thats why it was royce.

I always thought it was cause they wanted to show the weakest rather than Rickson who was muscular , to show the “ effectiveness “ of Gracie bjj. Which is funny cause Royler was obviously weaker looking but actually had way better Bjj.

Ricco Rodriguez at one point was THE guy for hw division . He had great bjj for heavyweights like mir but he fell off with partying and such.
The UFC is like Ricco Rodriguez? Who is that?

My recollection is that Royce was also considered the 'toughest' Gracie other than rickson. Tough in the never give up, doesn't give a fuck sense.
Royler might've been more "it's just business"

Royce was basically the right combination of being big enough to not simply be overpowered, tough enough to take punishment if needed but but also didnt really look like a killer like Rickson.

Holy shit to be honest my only real knowledge of Travis Fulton is he seemed like a good guy after slamming that skinny kid that one time. Definitely wasn't expecting that!

Something tells me that wasn't the actual reason considering he already competed in the UFC.
Hell Dana himself was spouting stuff off like that.
The anti-gay language comes straight from the top.
Heck big nog Rampage Tito Most of the Gracie family.
Have all set stuff like that.

Heck the UFC actually signed Greg Hardy somebody who is well known for beating the fuck out of women.
They will sign anyone.

He defeated David Dodd (whoever that is) in an Alternate Bout at UFC 21 by Decision.

Thanks for the clarification. I thought I remembered he lost all of them when I last looked it up.

I'm undefeated 0-0 where you at dana?

If you want to look at a guy with a ton of fights that was highly skilled then refer to Jeremy Horn.

Fulton was a fun active jobber.

I know this basketball player down at the local Y who averages 30-12-6 per game.........why doesn't he get a shot in the NBA?

Most UFC fighters would not be able to fight that often without injuring themselves if they had to shadow box.

Obviously too dangerous for the UFC at that time, couldn't legally sign him.

You have to remember that fight where he slammed some TKD guy into a brutal stoppage then.

It was a huge gif on these forums for a long time.

*Edit* I looked it up. It was a guy named Jeremy Bullock.

Yeah haha that was brutal. I was one of the 1st people to start making mma highlights (kuma-son highlights) and that was in like every KO highlight back then. I almost miss the mismatches from back then =/ I'd rather there not be mismatches like that now of course but I don't mind some Rizin type freakshow fights here and there to sorta fill that gap.
