I hated that Barbara kept referring to him as a little girl. That's not a girl.
You're right, it's a bloke not a girl.

I don't agree with the parents, but after watching the special on their family, it seems they did seek lots of help from physicians before going ahead with it. It doesn't seem like they saw him play dress up and just allowed him to be a girl. That whole thing seems like bullshit.
Like where he says the boy he messaged "accepts him for who he is". That sounded completely scripted. 11 year olds don't talk that way.
That's an effeminate boy nudged into acting like a girl since a young age and now his life is a mess, but his fucked up parents are too fucked up to know it or to tell him how hard life is gonna be.
if this is shocking to you, you really need to bring yourself into the 21st century.
I agree. The parents, though, have pushed the school board into letting him use the girl's bathroom and even have him registered as a girl in school. They're pushing for his right to play on girls' sports team, as the soccer association said he couldn't play. That scene kind of bothered me. On one hand, no parent wants to see his child sad, and the boy seemed really devastated that he couldn't play in games with the girls. On the other hand, had they not sent this kid to school dressed in girls clothes and told him it was OK to pretend he was a girl at such a young age, he'd probably be playing on boys teams without begging to play with the girls.I hated that Barbara kept referring to him as a little girl. He tries to wear bras to school, so I doubt he wants to pee like a guy.Does IT pee standing up?

so when is this going to become a TLC show?

I agree, though. Most of it sounds scripted to push an agenda. The text from the 11 year old sounded completely fake, and saying that the boy used to fix hisnclothes likena dress and correct his parents when they called him a boy at 15 months sounds like an outright lie.
I agree for the most part. The idea behind the hormone blockers, though, is to delay puberty so he doesn't end up looking like a man. That part is reversible. The same meds are used to delay puberty in children with precocious puberty. If he decides to stay a woman, looking like a man dressed as a woman is going to affect not only self-esteem, but also job prospects later on down the line. It's the effects of estrogen that won't be reversible, without surgery anyways. It's a very tricky situation. I wouldn't feel comfortable tinkering with a child's hormones unless there was some kid of hormonal imbalance. Do no harm is a biggie, and I'm not certain I wouldn't be harming this child. The psych/endocrinology specialists have done way more research on the disease and treatments, but everything is still controversial at this point. The parents should help Jazz understand that her unique situation creates untenable options, and reinforce that it's not her fault. It bugs me when people advocate for "same circumstance" via special concessions. The world doesn't change. The body shouldn't be altered. And the mind is where the child needs the most help. Roles go beyond gender. There are roles you play at work, with family, with friends -- we learned this later in life, Jazz needs to learn this sooner. Mental disorder, mental solution?
Jazz understands she is a girl, but she needs to understand her body forces her to adapt differently from most other kids. Hormone therapy won't help that. It'll mix her up more. I cannot believe there is a doctor out here who can approximate nature in regards to the necessary amounts of this or that. I predict some trial and error.
Help kids be all they could be, but don't put all your eggs into just one Jazzket. She couldn't use them anyway....
That whole special was an audition for a reality show. It's so transparent. They set up all these situations like having a boy call her. Parents are such scumbags. Guaranteed it is turned into a TV show.
He's at the stage of his life where kids don't really understand and are much more accepting. Things will change drastically when all her classmates have testosterone and estrogen running through their veins.Poor little girl. :*(
Sometimes we complain about the dumbest things (I do) with out realizing what others have to live through everyday.
It's incredible how composed she is about it. If it was me, I wouldn't want to live anymore.
God bless her.
