It does affect their ability to do the job though. Getting gender surgery takes a long time for recovery and that directly affects their deployment readiness. Plus, they require drugs that may not be available when deployed.

1) not all trans people transition, so blanket banning them is still dumb

2) you can still work non combative jobs while in a non deployable status

3)Requirements for meds varries

4) If we are basing if people should be able to serve based on the potential for long medical recovery periods, should be not enlist women since they can be not just undeployable but completely gone just as long, if not longer?

You do understand there's been a dramatic increase in "mental illness" and the concept of mass hysteria?

What has changed is our ability to detect, diagnose and classify, and treat mental illness. The human brain and body hasn't gone through any evolutionary changes in hundreds of thousands of years.
