Social Trans people being removed from the military by Trump for being mentally unfit.

There are levels of severity that are being ignored here. You can very easily do most jobs in the service with minor mental health conditions
Wanting to cut your cock or tits off is definitely not a "minor mental health condition". it's as major as it gets.
it's literally stronger than the bodily self-preservation instincts. if you lack self-preservation instincts, why would anyone believe you have them when it comes to job integrity, group trust, etc.?
this is major league looneyville, not "i'm sad sometimes".

Getting a sex change doesn't effect your ability to do a job and it has nothing to do with survival instincts. Women get breast reductions and plastic surgery all the time and no one claims their mentally ill. What someone chooses to do with their body is irrelevant. If you are physically and mentally capable of doing the job, I don't care.

Cutting your dick off is in no way comparable to plastic surgery. it's the reduction to absurdity argument. what next, cutting your dick off is like getting a tooth implant? it's like washing your teeth? it's like taking a shower?

No.

No reasonable person looks at a woman that chooses plastic surgery and thinks it's the same as some dude cutting off his dick, having a flesh would between his legs that he constantly has to dilate or it just heals, and that he thinks it's a "vagina", wears dresses and demands to be addresses as a woman.

And no reasonable person would look at someone like that and think that level of mental illness is acceptable for a job where additional mental stress is a given.

2025s version of don’t ask don’t tell? I am against trans men in women’s sports but there is no reason a trans person couldn’t serve in the military and while I think there are some mental health issues with some of them, others it’s a brain chemistry issue imo. What’s next, declaring those who are depressed and take meds to be declared unfit? There goes half the military
They kinda are unfit, and if i'm not mistaken, you can't enlist if you're on depression drugs.
so...

That is not factual. They can be on meds but there are certain illnesses or mental health histories that would prohibit enlistment.

And back to the issue at hand, what about trans people makes them unfit? So what if they have gender dysphoria. It’s not like they are schizophrenic or violent. Let’s be honest. It’s an optics issue

read the posts above. i have explained my position there.
"so what if they have gender dysphoria" opens the door for a whole lot of "so what if they have"s.

What happens if they can't supply people who need testosterone in combat/desparate situations? Or the various other drugs they need to maintain the fragile state of their bodies? Why would a trans person even want to go through that, wouldn't it potentially reverse the things they are trying to do? People with medical conditions are generally barred from serving in the military for similar reasons, if the military can't supply them the drugs they need to be physically ready at all times then they become unreliable in a position where reliability is often the most important thing.

Gay people don't need external drugs and constant procedures to be able to continue serving at their best capacity.

Not all trans people transition so this isn't even relevant to a significant portion of that population. Regardless, Swapping out a dick for a vagina does not impact your ability to do any job. Nobody gives a fuck what's in your pants. They care about results. You're being ridiculous.

I'll gladly take a motivated trans marine who meets standards over the many shirt bird asvab waivers I've been stuck with

That door should be open. It's not black and white. You need to assess things on a case by case basis

Many people can join the military despite needing to be regularly medicated. And the vast majority of jobs in the military are non combative roles so there's no shortage of positions for people to fill while their in transition, if they transition at all. Before or after that they are fully deployable.

But not all trans people have sex reassignment or hormones. Some have full beards and claim she/her pronouns. There’s a spectrum; I think. My whole point is that I think it sets a potential issue up for military men and women that take psych meds for depression, ptsd, anxiety, bipolar, ir anything else. I am not saying that people with severe issues should be able to serve, but the issue is that people with issues won’t take meds or seek treatment because they’re afraid they will get kicked out of the military.

The military doesn't allow people with depression, PTSD, bipolar, etc. to serve. They don't even allow people with autism, eating disorders, certain anxieties, etc. There are some exceptions like if you've had depression or anxiety, you have to show that you can go 1-3 years without taking any medication for it and not show signs.

That's not according to their medical standards on psfrom what I can tell, see above. You are even actively disqualified even if you have historically had certain conditions (like depression, anxiety, etc.) if you have even taken a drug for it in the past 1-3 years.

One such example of depression:
f. Depressive disorder if:
(1) Outpatient care including counseling required for longer than 12 cumulative months;
(2) Symptoms or treatment within the previous 36 months;
(3) The applicant required any inpatient treatment in a hospital or residential facility;
(4) Any recurrence; or
(5) Any suicidality (in accordance with Paragraph 6.28.m.).

Those standards have been under review and already undergoing changes. They're easing into a system with more lax medical restrictions.

Can you find the conditions they list? I can only find ADHD, dyslexia and asthma in the news releases for it. And these still require evaluations of the individuals. Someone wouldn't get in if they required quite the brain and body-altering level of medication of someone that has had a transgender surgery. The military is also very strict on conditions that cause suicidal ideations, which in transgender individuals is exceptionally high compared to the regular population.

I'll search up a list if it's out there but as far as I'm aware, they are still figuring out their lateral limits on this. A lot is still subject to change. Asthma and ADHD DQ a lot of people so they were the pilot wave.

Individual who had undergone HRT could join but would need a waiver. Full surgery would be disqualifying iirc. So Trans individuals who wanted to join could by going through an evaluation with a medical professional to assure a stable mental state within an 18 month period, or simply by not currently going through HRT.

Its a case by case basis, as it should be.

I don’t have the time to read that; but that looks very recent. The link I posted earlier said that depression and some other mental illness is ok so long as it is not severe. I am really interested in reading that but I simply do not have the time atm: that’s crazy. No meds for three years. I guess we never have to worry bout a draft. I get their reasoning; but they are losing a lot of good soldiers that are completely fine on meds and those that really want to be soldiers will forgo treatment and get worse probably under the stress of being in the military. Like I said, when I have a few mins, I will read it
