Social Trans people being removed from the military by Trump for being mentally unfit.

Are they really being kicked out though? Seems like a political stunt.

The reason most of them are in is for the medical care.
On day one Trump signed an EO reversing a Biden order explicitly stating trans people could serve, and now he's outlawing it.

I know he signed one but will it really be implemented? Seems like it might not actually be done.

Seems like that's an entirely different question.

The reason anyone joins the military is for the benefits the government provides in exchange for their service.

Most people are not willing to have their tax dollars spent on: phalloplasty, facial feminization surgery, vaginoplasty, vulvaplasty, labiaplasty, voice feminization, etc.

A lot of people consider these kinds of things cosmetic procedures and not medically necessary.

It's a long list on top of all the hormone therapy drugs. The juice ain't worth the squeeze.

The fact that you think young men not wanting to be the fighting force under fat cat ladies and men in dresses is a joke shows that you have no understanding with the issue at hand.

No, I understand pretty well that the reason military recruitment is down is because times have changed and I don't know maybe that:

  • Youths are disinterested in it. I believe only around 15% of people have a parent who served in the military compared to 1995 when it was around 40%.
  • Obesity has risen among all age groups and you kind of have to meet physical requirements to be in the military.
  • Perceptions have changed about the military. Going into wars and destroying countries like Iraq as a source of history don't help with recruitment.
  • There is low unemployment. Why go into the military when I can go get a job and don't have to take orders for the government for X years?
You say the statement above and I could argue why serve under a government where after I serve I struggle to get the most basic of benefits and if I need healthcare I can go to one of those amazing underfunded and always top of the line (sarcasm) VA hospitals. But don't worry though because I served I can get 10% of at Golden Corral every Sunday.

Most of his EOs are too wide sweeping and questionably constitutional. He's just throwing shit at a wall to see what sticks. That way he can go "I tried. The Libs got in my way!"

But these things aren't covered by veteran's insurance already.

Even with private insurance it's not easy to get these types of procedures covered, it takes many years and thousands in out of pocket expenses. Just like every other medical condition insurance agencies make you try literally everything else first.

I read the dod reported 26M spent on trans people serving since 2020. Thats a lot of money....

That's a pretty child like opinion considering the scale of the military.
It's just one thing that peeps haven't pointed out and just because of a big budget doesn't mean it's necessary. This thinking is what got us to the budget we have and taxes we have.

If there is one thing in the military budget that isn't a total waste it's welfare spending on the actual humans doing the serving.
