Touchbutt Conor was truly a special talent

Conor was never special talent, just a product of favorable match-making at the right time.

LMAO, so when he first fought Poirier it was "favorable match making", but when he loses it is not? How was Chad Mendes, Aldo, RDA and then Eddie favorable? How was Nate at 170 favorable - why not make him cut to 155 or pick someone else? Conor just went after the belt and biggest prizes, UFC gave him stiff tests to make sure he was the real deal before putting muscle behind him. The reason Chad was picked, not Frankie, was that Lorenzo felt Chad was better, and, he was ranked higher. Conor also beat the two greatest FW's of all time and walks at 168, making him average by modern standards and smaller than guys like Holloway who walk at 180.

The reality is Conor was an incredible fighter, one of the best P4P that we have ever seen in his prime, but he got rich, got addicted to God knows what, got complacent in those silk sheets and the last time we saw Prime Conor was in 2016. You can not take two years off this game, get wasted the whole time and come back to your same form.

Yep he was a major talent 100%

He had a great run and became the biggest star in the sport. However, despite his success, he could have been even greater

I often wonder if he had better coaches and remained 100% focused how good would he have become?

Not a fan of the man, but only a complete moron would deny the guys ability and early focus

Tyson Fury did it

Tyson Fury did it
Tyson Fury also believed in a God/higher power, identified his problem, cleaned his act up and was way bigger than his opponents in a single discipline sport (do not have to worry about takedowns and BJJ). Conor thinks he is a God, kept the boozing, still keeps the boozing, went up in weight, went to new sports and took on better opponents as well. Fury was still boxing a bit as boxing is what Travellers do, where as Conor did not wrestle for like two years then returned against Khabib of all people, like if Fury returned to Usyk or Wilder with no tune ups.

If Conor kept fighting guys like Siver, he likely still wins......when he got to fighting bonafide LW's, guys that walk around 20-30 pounds heavier than him, he simply was too eroded and diminished to get by. Heck, I even bet Eddie Alvarez beat the Conor we just saw.

Pointless training his part of why he never grew as a fighter.

There is a middle ground folks.

Conor isn't a GOAT and has fallen off a cliff. Conor was great for a period and destroyed people easily.

guys like Petr Yan or Glover are much better fighters than the Irish dwarf, he's good at marketing and that's it.

Lol, so because Conor circled away from the cage, against a nightmare match up at 170, that means he was not a unique talent at 145? Didn't he win that fight, too, btw?

This is what I have been talking about. When people do not like one of these next level fighters, they extend the goal post and wait for them to lose or fall off, then they use it as evidence that they sucked. Any fighter you do not like that wins = "lucky". When fighters you like win = "proof of my point".

Vitor is an incredible fighter BTW too.....you realize how butt hurt and goofy you sound, no?

Oh, OK. So tell me, who are your top P4P fighters think you believe Aldo is trash? Or wait....let me guess: when Conor beat him, it was “lucky”, right? Sorry, but the first ever champ champ deserves a spot and you can not judge post prime to prime. Not saying flows motivated Conor was the best P4P, but sorry, he was up there.

honestly, that one comment by diaz about "playing touchbutt in that dork in the park" did more damage to Conor than anything. After he stopped training with Ido because he became self consicious about it, he started to lose it.

Such a hilarious and brutal line

More like hungry Conor, a man who still had fresh memories of humping it to a job site for plumbers assistant wages and then scraping by on welfare while trying to pursue the dream. Now's super rich celebrity Conor with far less motivation to train and has a lot more wear and tear on the body. And not to dump on Jon Kavanaugh who I think gets more hate than he deserves, but he hasn't exactly built a stable of killers for Conor to train along side.
