Top 10 Heavyweights ever

Fedor Emelianenko is the greatest lie in the history of MMA. A merely decent fighter manufactured an enormous myth and an aura of greatness by avoiding top competition for several years. In truth, he was kinda big fish in a small pond.

I'm also rather disappointed by the sycophantic coverage here on Sherdog. It was different here some 15 years ago when writers actually dared to challenge and debunk Emelianenko mythology.

But now even sad truth about Emelianenko that is plain to see is mostly ignored on the front page. I've seen nothing so far about Emelianenko being a fascist stooge, for example. How convenient. But when he stands trial for aiding and abetting war crimes your readers will likely be shocked to find out that you were so economical with the facts about their idol all along. But it's no secret even now. You just deliberately avoid the subject.

Fascinating

Semmy had 40 mma fights dude.I think he showed whatever potential he had lol.

LMAO at greatest striker ever.

He lost to every elite HW he ever fought
So who is the greatest striker ever?

Ngannou finished Arlovski in round 1, Overeem in round 1, Cain in round 1, JDS in round 1 and Stipe in round 2. Stipe gets a pass because he dominated a green Ngannou the first time, but the rest? They all got manhandled and emasculated.

Curious about your orders

1. Stipe- Most title defenses, two time champ, beat the best opposition
2. Fedor- Undefeated for almost a decade, against the top heavies at the time
3. Cain- two time champ, utterly mauled everyone he beat
4. Big Nog- beat a who's who, and remained competitive for years
5. Cro Cop- Smashed everyone in his early days not named Fedor or Nog (ok, and Kev)
6. Werdum- Beat the best guys (Cain, Fedor) but was inconsistent
7. Ngannou- Smashy
8. Cormier- Amazing fighter. Beat Stipe. Didn't have enough high quality opposition wins to be top 5
9, JDS- Probably the most historical early run, great champ
10. Couture- 3 time champ, didn't face the toughest opposition, but they were the toughest at that time
Honorables to Coleman, Overeem and Sylvia

1. Fedor
2. Ngannou
3. Big Nog
4. Cormier
5. Cain
6. Werdom
7. Hunt
8. JDS
9. Mirko
10. Stipe / Igor

Semmy is the grestest striker to ever live, and like with Cain, the potential was great.

DC was very impressive that a guy that old, that had a physique of a dart player could compete in mma. He was Fun to Watch, and always went out in full speed, but to be honest, him beating Stipe was pretty much like Serra beat GSP..

DC is hella overrated

Schilt is the best Heavyweight kickboxer but not best effective MMA striker he also was not a great grappler but he surprisngly did manage to submit a lot of people

Semmy was and is the best Heavyweight Kickbox3r ever. Not best MMA striker

Foot work and keeping the fight standing is crucial to fighting

Gosh, how do you guys put Ngannou on a top 10 HW list?
Ngannou has some highreel KOs, but in this first title shot he gassed miserably in 2 minutes flat, and after winning the belt his only defense so far was a stinker of a fight and among the worst HW title fights ever.

How are people putting Big Nog as top 5? That is laughable
Matt lindland, coleman, randleman and Arona all got fedor down

Coleman was heavier in their first fight also stronger. Randleman also stronger. Arona not stronger but it was early on. Lindland had ropes to help

Whats the wuality win on Sapps resume again?

Beast has beaten Blaydes, Nelson, Volkov, Oleinik, Gonzaga, FRANCIS, etc

You Pride nerds are fuckin unbelievable lol

Good God

He beat hoost who's the goat KB

Good God

I cant believe this thread

People are legir sayint Bob Sapp would be top 10 today and that Nog is the 2nd greatest HW ever....
He beat hoost who's the goat KB

They have to overrate Nog because he is one of Fedors best wins. Personally I rank Mir, Arlovski, and Cro Cop as better wins for Fedor also longevity.

Hoost is the only good wins Sapp has and that was in Kickboxing not MMA also Hoost is not the Kickboxing GOAT

That logically belongs to Peter Aerts, or Semmy Schilt or Rico Verhooven but in my opinion it belongs to Schilt considering he beat Aerts and Verhooven

Speaks more to the illegitimacy of K-1 lol

His best boxing win is William "The Refrigerator" Perry

He's 12-20 in mma

Honestly I think he could of beat Mike Tyson then

I wish they fought then as I think Sapp had a good chance. He just overpowered and threw Hoost into the ropes and landed shots. Sapp sucked in MMA because he was too bulky and no cardio with all that excess muscle. When it came to grappling exchanges he got owned and outworked and takendown, submitted, mounted, etc

It's gonna ruffle some feathers, but he'd struggle very badly with Lewis

Lewis would KO him or Tko him at minimum

Nog was a horrible striker and had poor takedown ability he also was not very strong he isnt taking Lewis down. Only in Pride superfan world do they think somehow Nog was a good striker besides Schaub the only 2 other guys he finished by strikes BOTH have losing records and 1 of them is a WW who weighed 178lbs and is 5"9 .... the other had his first fight ever when he lost to a Prime 25 and 2 Nog and also that guy went on to have a losing record.

Bob Sapp and that WW fighter and many other cans landed on Nog and outstruck him...
