Tony Ferguson's last five fights... just the facts

Tony got his ass kicked by Lando—a super late notice opponent, until Lando inevitably gassed.

Tony was losing to Barboza prior to his concussive (and illegal) upkick that completely changed the fight.

RDA/Tony was super competitive until the egregious eye poke.

Danny “prison rape” Castillo rag dolled Tony.

He was always overrated. Fun fighter though. Just never had a chance against Khabib.

Tony Ferguson was never my friend, just the fact.

Tony Ferguson is the type of guy that make Oliveria afraid of arm-baring him again

So now, we’re not acting like Tony is 37?? Is there any all time great LW that has looked great beyond 35ish?? Also, all of those guys you listed were coming off win streaks or big wins when they fought Tony and were actually fighting pretty well at the time. That’s more important than just throwing up there recent records. You can pick apart any fighter’s resume by doing that. For instance, people say Pettis was washed when he fought Tony but he was only like 31 and had just recently fimsihed Chiesa and Oliveira and went on to KO Wonderboy right after losing to Tony. Was Pettis washed at 31 when a lot of LWs hit their prime or was he just fighting more and more elite comp? Cowboy and Lee were also fighting well with several top 10 win streaks at the time. But sure, you can just just throw their record up there and say they suck.

I was comparing more with Khabib myself than Olivera. Olivera fought mostly nobodies before Lee. We know that. I think he last good opponent was Felder and he lost.
Fair enough. I thought you may have been one of those guys that think "Oliveira is the threat to khabib" type because he beat a bunch of no names+ inconsistent kevin lee and a declining tony. So sorry for assuming.(even when you said not to LOL)

Oli's good. He's elite top 5 imo. But that's about it right now. If anyone deduces more from the tony victory, they're full of shit lol

Hard to argue with the TS.

Pretty much spot on at where Tony is in his career.

All good points, but the Pettis fight wasnt back-and-forth. Pettis dropped early round 2 & nearly finished him, but other than that it wasnt very competitive.

If I recall...and I didn't follow up...but #4 the Pettis fight, Pettis broke his hand.
Pettis was getting pressured and bullied before he broke his hand and he was getting pressured and bullied after he broke his hand. Yes, he caught Tony with a clean shot, who recovered quickly, but that’s really about it.

bunch of fair weather fans up in here.

has tony declined? of course, how long has he been getting punched in the head??

still had 12 wins in a row in the premier org in mma. but that doesn't count after a loss i guess.

how many other guys have had 12 wins in a row? khabib, usman, jones? pretty good company i would say.

tony's style is not suited to longevity. he is one of the best to do it at 55. i will always be a fan

showing records in their current state is a bit deceiving. Kevin lee was not in a loosing streak like now. Pettis has a win over olivera, the same guy that beat tony. cerrone was on a 3 fight win streak. gaetche has been on a tear and extremely competitive with top guys not named khabib.

time changes people, what can I say. Some get better, some get worse. Tony got worse.

This. For all we know, Tony could've been the reason that Lee, Cowboy, and Pettis got worse. It's more accurate to compare the competition to before they fought Tony, not after.

Did they? Correct if I'm wrong. I think Khabib pulled out several times. Tony pulled out a few as well.

Tony turned down interim TS vs Holloway and it was given to Poirier. Poirier beat Holloway and consequently fought to unify the belt. That would have been Tony if he accepted, no?
then he'd be the guy to win the most interim belts in the ufc

well obviously

Prime Ferguson > current Ferg

just like Champion Khabib > Retired Khabib

Please take your research to T Ferg in person, I'm sure he'd be very interested to hear your findings.

You’re only allowed an opinion on a fighter if you could beat him in a fight? What idiotic logic are you promoting exactly?

Is this like a Frank Mir curse?

A lot of people will. The UFC are trying really hard to sell Oliveira. Once Rogan accepted that Tony was getting owned in there, he flew into promotional gear with the speed of a peregrine falcon.

Tony was getting beat up in that Landó Vannata fight too before Tony subbed him

  1. Charles Olivera - Loss - lost all 3 rounds, 1 or more 10-8s
  2. Justin Gaethje - Loss - Lost all 5 rounds
  3. Donald Cerrone - Win - 2 rounds, somewhat dominant over Donald who is winless in his last five fights
  4. Anthony Pettis - Win - Back and forth fight. Nearly finished twice but came back. Anthony Pettis is 3-4 in his last 7
  5. Kevin Lee - Win - Back and forth fight, came back to finish Lee after early adversity. Kevin Lee is 1-3 in his last four fights
Connect your own dots, make no assumptions. :)

Pettis broke his hand in the first minute too, so he tko'd ferguson while fighting with a broken hand. the ref just let ferguson roll around backwards on the mat until he came to his senses.

"This is not about Tony declining, it's about how good Oliveira is"

Tony looked like shit, Joe.
